It was on Monday morning. I was seated in my office when my cell phone rang .I didn’t need to be told who it was. I knew it was Roy. I smiled and picked the call cheerfully.
“Hallo boss? Someone misses me already?”
I heard him chuckling on the phone.
“That boss word should not be there. You know I always miss you. Can you kindly come to my office?”
“What did we say about that Roy? We already agreed on the terms of coming to your office.”
“Blah! Blah! Blah! I know but this is something important. It’s about that slutty lady that was to call about the tea girl job.”
“ Her name is Vickie baby. What about her? I asked trying to control myself from laughing. He always referred to her as a slut.
“ Oooh! Yeah! That Vickie or whatever her name is. It’s all the same. I need to discuss with you about her job.”
“Okay! Let me come.”
He hanged up and I smiled. The revenge was still on. I took the elevator to sixth floor and Julie buzzed me in. She gave me a bright smile as I approached her desk. She stood up to give me a hug.
“Hey dear? Look who we have here.” She said sizing up Vickie who was seated on one of the seats in the reception. Julie knew my story with Vickie and she hated her with the same intensity that Roy hated her with. I had not noticed her. I looked at her and smiled.
“Hey Vickie?” I greeted her cheerfully. She didn’t respond. She just sneered. Sneering was all  she did. It didn’t bother me whether she responded to my greetings or not.
“What? You are sneering at her? Do you know she can get you fired before you are hired? You have a problem woman.” Julie said boiling with anger.
“Leave it Julie. She is not worth it.”
“Why are you even hiring her? I don’t get what you and Roy are doing.”
“I will update you about it later. Am here to see Roy, or is it the boss?” We both burst out laughing.
“ It’s your man you silly. You don’t need permission to go in there. He is in. Make sure you update me on what is happening. Be good and you two should not get naughty.” She winked and I laughed.
I went into Roy’s office and kissed him lightly on the lips. I sat down opposite him and waited for him to speak.
“This is getting hard baby.”
“What is getting hard? Hiring Vickie? Then don’t do it.” I said with a puzzled look.
“Not that. These rules where I’m not supposed to see you when at work. I can’t manage at all.”
“ can we talk about this when we get home baby? Let’s talk about Vickie first. She is already outside sneering as usual.”
“Let her sneer some more. We don’t care about that. I have changed my mind. Hiring her as a tea girl will be risking our lives and those of the staff. She will be working as a cleaner.”
“That’s even better.” I said chuckling.
“you are evil, you know that?” He wore a bright smile on his face.
“ You know who my tutor is. You are a bad ass baby. I wouldn’t want to make you my enemy. You are the devil himself.”
He laughed at my words and dialed a number on the phone.
“Julie, tell that lady to come in.”
He hanged up and gave me a smile as we heard the door open and Vickie come in meekly. Vickie being humble was something new. Roy gestured for her to sit down.
“Now, I have looked at the vacancies  we have and the only vacant one is the position of a cleaner. That’s what I’m offering you.” I stifled out laughter as I watched his lips twitch in a smile. He was enjoying humiliating her. Vickie looked at him with anger on her face.
“A cleaner? No way. I can’t do that.” She said angrily.
“ What’s wrong with being a cleaner? Aren’t cleaners human beings?”
I chuckled at the expression on Roy’s face and Vickie looked at me with a frown on her face.
“I didn’t go to school to work as a cleaner!”
“Do you think you are the only learned person who will be working as a cleaner. You can’t choose when it comes to work. Anyway, you are wasting our time. We have better things to do. It’s either that or no job at all. Take it or leave it. Remember, you won’t get a job in this town that easily. I’m so influential.”
Vickie went silent for a moment and then she shrugged.
“okay, it’s better than nothing. I will take it.”
“Good. We finally agree on something. Go to the HR's office. I will give her a call and she will give you your uniform. It’s on 4th floor. Have a good day.”
She left and we were left there laughing. Messing with Roy was the worst one could do.
“You are worse than the devil baby. No one wants to mess up with you.”
“Not with me but with you. If it was me I could have coped and ignored it but when it comes to you I will even kill someone . They hurt you so badly and it hurt to see you shattered. I told you I will do anything for you.”
He rose up and took me into his arms. He hugged me tightly as he ran his fingers on my back. It gave me a tickling sensation.
“ Thanks for all this baby. Let me go back to my office. I have a lot of work to do.”
“It’s okay dear. I will see you later. Take care of yourself.”
I walked out of his office to his reception. I was itching to tell Julie the news and her smile told me she was eager for the same.
“ I have news hotter than cake. She has accepted the job offer.”
“Wow! I will show her what happens when one messes up with my girlfriend. Please tell me she won’t be working in the kitchen. That woman is evil. She can poison all of us.” She had a concerned look on her face.
“Relax dear! She is a cleaner.”
“Wow! You can’t dare mess up with the boss. Especially when it’s about you. He loves you so much Jackie. I have never seen him like this before.”
“I know. I'm lucky to have him.”
I giggled and saw Julie’s face change all of a sudden. I turned to look at what had made her like that and saw Roy leaning on the wall watching her.
“So that’s your office now? You two can’t wait to gossip.” It wasn’t that serious. He was not mad because he was smiling.
“ I was on my way. See you later Julie.”
Roy smiled as he went back to his office and I went to my office leaving Julie chuckling.
