TAYLOR (CHAPTER 40)

"You got everything packed?" I nod at Lila, making sure I packed everything as I walk around my room.

"Crap, I'm gonna miss this place," I say with a smile.

"Hey, I thought you didn't swear?" I scoff at her, not even caring that I'm cursing a bit. Honestly, from the day my mother told me I'm going to Paris, France to take over her store, I've been cussing non-stop.

Bawling my eyes out, and practically breaking anything that I can find. But now, I feel emotionless. My body and mind just feel numb, and honestly, this whole thing feels like a dream. A dream ready to die anytime soon so I can wake up. But sadly, it's not happening.

"You okay?" Lila asks me.

"Do I look okay?"

"Fuck no, you look horrible. It looks like you haven't slept in days." I nod at her, zipping up my suitcases.

"Thanks." Lila laughs at me, yet her laughter dies in seconds. I know that this must be hard for her as well, losing not only a sister but also a roommate. We were so excited about being roommates when we moved here, yet now, the dream's dying.

"I can't believe you're actually doing this," she mutters.

"Do you want to tell mom that?"

"If I had the balls, yeah! I fucking would! You're my sister! I don't care if she popped you out of her vagina. You're my sister!" I laugh at Lila's words, tears almost forming in my eyes.

"I'll miss you, Lila," I say with a sad smile.

"Don't say that. You're gonna make me cry."

"So you don't wanna say bye to me at the airport?" She scoffs, grabbing one of my suitcases.

"Of course I'm going to say bye to you. I would be a terrible sister if I didn't." Grabbing the other suitcase I walk out of my room with Lila, taking one last look at it.

"It looks incredibly empty now doesn't it," she says.

"Yup. Just like my heart," I mutter.

"I heard that. Is this because of you leaving or does this gotta do with Carter as well?"

"Both. I mean I finally found the guy that I actually like, and now, it's all gone. I'm moving to Paris Lila. It's a nine-hour plane ride."

"Well, what about long distance? You could call him or facetime him. Could it be that hard?" Facing her I roll my eyes.

"Could you do that with Shawn? What if he was cheating on you? Or maybe you were cheating on him? How would the other one know if they're so far away?"

"At least Shawn and I would try. Plus, I trust him. Even with my heart."

"Love sucks," I say.

"No, it doesn't. It only does if you waste it away. Which you are." I raise an eyebrow at her in confusion. Scoffing she continues. "You didn't actually have to break up with Carter, Taylor. You only did that so you can protect your heart, yet you only broke your's and his in the end. You broke up with him because you didn't want to do long distance, but also, you didn't think you could trust him to do it. He changed Taylor, he changed for you. And now, you broke his heart. Badly. Who knows what he'll do now? He'll probably change to what he used to be before, a damn player and an asshole." Feeling tears run down my cheeks, I rub them away, not loving that I'm crying yet again.

"Stop it. You're making me cry." She laughs sarcastically, planting her hand on my shoulder.

"No little sister I'm not. I'm only telling you the truth," she says with a sad smile. Rubbing my eyes, I try to not cry anymore, yet it's extremely hard since the only thing I can think about is Carter.

"Where's Shawn?" I ask Lila, trying to change the conversation.

"We're meeting him at the airport. He had to go do something for a while, but don't worry, he's not letting you go without saying goodbye." Nodding I grab my suitcases, giving them to Lila. "Wanna say goodbye once more to your room?" She asks me. With a smile I nod, walking in my room one last time.

Closing the door behind me, I break down in seconds.

Walking around my room I remember all the good memories I had in here. Even though I stayed here for a year, it's been an amazing adventure. My eyes wander to my bed, the memories rushing through my brain as if it happened yesterday.

Looking around I spot a notepad on my desk, my brain getting an idea in seconds. Grabbing the notepad and pen, I rip a sticky note from it, writing my thoughts down. Finishing I read it over, happy with what I wrote on it. Putting the pen down I place the sticky note on my wall, right on the corner of where my bed is. Taking a step back I stare at it, a smile reaching my face, yet a single tear also drops as well.

"Taylor! You ready?!" I hear Lila call out.

"Coming!" Walking away I open my bedroom door one last time, walking away from the memories to make new ones once again.
