Dance Puppet Dance
Spotlights on, hiding spaces revealed
Blinded by the bright lights
Frozen and shocked
The dark no longer there to offer safety
Sight comes back
Heart rate speeds up tremendously
Breathing nearly impossible
Wishing for it to be a bad dream
Praying silently
Crowds are cheering
Demands and instructions shouted
Refusing to be controlled
Not giving up, feeling strong
Determined, looking for ways out
Excitement becomes frustration
Cheers no longer encouraging
Flying objects
Howling out
Knowing that there's no other choice
Tired of fighting, giving in
The fire inside died hopelessly
Following expectations
Doing what is told
Uncertain and unwillingly
Crowd's excitement rises again
Applause and approval fill the ears
Must be doing something right
No longer caring about dignity
Regret and shame well up
Never wanted to be this way
Dooming self, cursing vain
Mentally fading away
Living in old memories
Escaping reality
Not ever left alone, always bothered
Over and over, never-ending
Forced to listen
Whispered voices that keep singing
Keep on going,
Entertain us all
Dance puppet dance
Until the final curtain falls
