Peter's P.O.V.
I walked back to the dormitories, the grey stone walls surrounding my sides. I was lost in my thoughts as I walked into the dorm and sat down on my bed. I pulled off my jacket and took my shoes off. Laying down on the surprisingly comfortable bed, my ears tuned into the sound of someone singing. My thoughts made themselves known again as I wondered who it was. Wasn't everyone still in the cafeteria or shopping or whatever they wanted to do? Their voice was amazing and sounded angelic. It was rare for me to get these thoughts of something being as perfect as the voice of this person. They sang about love -a useless thing in my opinion- with so much passion yet as if they were thinking while singing it.
After about 10 minutes, the person walked out of the shower, their chestnut hair wet and a towel wrapped around their lean frame. They started to change and my thoughts wandered again.
Who were they? They were definitely a girl
How did they know those songs? Who knew.
Who were they singing about? Another question left unanswered
I wanted answers.
"Your voice," I spoke up. The person quickly turned around on their heel, their hair flipping around and landing on their shoulder.
It was Tay, the Abnegation girl who I pushed aside when I jumped.
"I-It's a nice voice."
"Thanks," she said timidly.
"I'm Peter," I said at the same time she said her name.
"Sorry, I shouldn't have interrupted," she apologised while looking at the floor.
Tay's P.O.V.
Peter was the mystery voice.
We talked for a bit.
"Where did you learn those songs?" Peter questioned. Well, now I knew he had heard both of them.
"I didn't," I answered. "They just came to mind."
"They're nice. So is your voice,"
"Thank you,". I never got complimented on my voice.
After a few awkward seconds of silence, we both turned away from each other, our eyes being the last to leave each others'. I lay down on the bed, my thoughts about Peter overtaking all of the others. Without me even realising, my eyes closed and my body rested itself, ready for a long day of training.
Clank, clank, clank.
My eyes opened to the sound of metal colliding with metal. I looked up towards the entrance of the dorms and my gaze met my brother's. I gave him the death stare and, if looks could kill, he would be six feet under. He smirked at me, the devil. He was banging a metal pipe against the railing of the steps.
"I want everyone in the pit. Two minutes," he announced and walked out. I begrudgingly stood up and put my now dry hair into a ponytail. I started to change into my black leggings, black training shoes and a black sports bra when I suddenly heard jeering. I looked around and saw Peter and his gang laughing at Tris. Poor her. I walked over and slapped one of Peter's goons, Drew, I think.
"Don't ever do anything like that again," I warned, my voice deadly quiet in exactly the same tone as my brother's when he threatened Christina. He nodded timidly and I could feel everyone else's gaze burning into the back of my head. I walked over to Tris and gave her a hug, gently squeezing her shoulder. "You ok?". She nodded and thanked me.
