At the age of 7, she got separated from her family. Jocelyn Fairchild found her all by herself in the big city of New York, all alone, and brought her in to live with her and her daughter Clary, who was the same age.
She never met Jace before, and he never met her. They are the same age. Although, he did know that the Lightwood siblings had another sister, but he never knew what she looked like and he knew the story.
Clary doesnt know about the shadow world because of Jocelyn. Jocelyn had a Warlock, specifically Magnus Bane, take her memories away to protect her.
Jocelyn had Rosalie learn how to train and told her more about the shadow world, but told her not to say anything to Clary.
It was tough love when it came to Rosalie and Jocelyn. Of course Rosalie wasn't her own child, her own blood, but if she took her in then she thought that she would still love her the same as she did Clary.
She just couldn't wait till she was eighteen, and could finally go fine her family, but little did she know that everything was going to change.
The world she knew changed when she was brought back to her family, and she met Jace, when he bumped into Clary.
