Walking into the room of John with a breakfast tray in my hands. "I got you some breakfast." I tell John when I put the tray on his bed. "Thank you, darling. Shouldn't you be not walking?" I put down a chair in front of me, and sit down. "Well, yes, but I wanted you to get some food. Gilbert seems to be very busy, and I don't know if he wants to go to school today."
"It's very sweet of you that you care so much about him." "He is my best friend, that's the least I can do." I tell him. "Well, its time for me to wash some of you guys's clothes." I stand up and want to walk out of the room, but a hand stops me. I look at John with concerned eyes. "Tell him soon." He says. I nod and let go of his hand.
The door flies open and Gilbert is in the opening. "Hi, did my father ate something?" He asked me. "Yes, I just gave him some breakfast." "Thank you." He walks to the kitchen and makes some breakfast for himself. "Aren't you going to school?" I ask.
He shakes his head. "I think that I have to stay close. And I can't leave you here alone." I look at him thankful. "I should get your laundry done." I stand up and start to get the clothes together. "I'll do your chores inside." I tell him. "You need to rest." "A few steps won't bother me that much. That's why I said that I'll stay inside."
➸
"Gilbert!" I hear a soft voice say. "Gilbert!" Knocks came after the name shouting. I was in a chair folding the laundry. I wanted to get up, but somehow I couldn't get up. Trying my best it worked after a long time of trying. When I made my way over there the sound stopped.
"Sorry to make you wait." I hear John's voice saying. No, no, no, no ,no! I stumble faster to the door to see if he is really standing there. And he was. "What a wonderful red hai-" "John you shouldn't be out of your bed. It's freezing cold outside. Come!" I say, pulling one of his arms over my shoulder.
"Say hi to Marilla for me." He says on the way back to his bed. I lay him carefully back in his bed and then I walk back to the door. "Hi Anne, what can I do for you?" "Gi-Gilbert" She stuttered. "He is in the backyard chopping wood. I can get him for yo-"
"Grace, what are you doing?" I look up to see Gilbert with wood in his hands. "You shouldn't be walking this much." He tells me when he drops the wood in his hand. "It seems that Anne has to urgent business with you. I'll go inside now." I say, trying to walk back inside.
A rush of pain flies around my knee, what causes me to almost fall. Gilbert can catch me right on time before I get the ground. "Let me get you inside." He picks me up in braid style and brings me to the couch.
"Are you okay?" He asked. "Yeah, I'm totally fine. Don't go through all this trouble because of me." I tell him with a smile. "Just, let me know when you need me." "I will."
