Description

Abnormals are teenagers that have superpowers. Teenagers like me.

My name is Lyanna, and my superpower is mind control.

It's 2050, and the government has been hunting down Abnormals since I was born.

They killed my parents when I was eight.

They tried to capture me, but they failed.

You may have thought that after all those years, they would stop searching for me. But I know they haven't. I know this from the "Wanted" posters that are taped on store windows, on brick walls, nailed into tree trunks. I know that there is a list of the names of almost a hundred teenagers, with a bounty next to each of the names. My name is listed at the top.

I have been forced to live on the streets for eight years. Eight years in fear, in suffering, and constantly on the run. 

But I've had enough of their mistreatment.

Today I'm turning sixteen. 

Today, I'm choosing to fight back.

And today, I'm not afraid.

Background

The story takes place in 2050, Northern America, where the Central Government rules the country. Many years ago, a strange chemical contaminated the waterways, causing the food and water to be poisoned. However, instead of killing off residents, the contamination lead to genetic mutations that affected the next generation, causing them to have strange superpowers. 

Now, in year 2050, the surviving children have grown up to become teenagers, and people have come to treat them as an entirely different species: Abnormals. And because people tend to fear the unknown, the Central Government has ordered Abnormals to be captured on sight and brought to the government's HQ. In HQ, the Abnormals undergo daily lab experiments that are brutal and are sometimes killed during the process. 

Due to the terrifying rumors that the Abnormals have heard about the experiments, they will do anything to hide from the Central Government, some choosing to change their identity or appearance, and some choosing to live among the streets. 

And some will risk anything...or everything, just to have a chance of survival.
