           Prologue

Thinking back on a trip I took with my grand father a few years ago to his home town of Mansfield Missouri for the funeral of his Aunt Cora at who passed away in 2005 at 105 years of age the cemetery we went to was called Prairie Hallow I don't know if it's the time of year or that recently so many I have known and a few I have loved have passed away. But I got to thinking about that place and how far back in the woods it lies you take a black top highway out of town to a little gravel road then down a small barley there dirt road over several streams to a clearing in the woods and an old gated iron fence, and how little its changed in the last hundred years even though the stones are smaller the feeling remains the same and this idea came to me not sure if it qualifies as a poem it doesn't rhyme much, though it was written to be read as such.

 A Prairie Hallow Halloween.

  Come sit with me
on this Halloween night
and enjoy seeing Prairie Hallow
through my sight......

Deep in the foot hills of the Ozark Mountains lies
A peaceful place called Prairie Hallow
Fallow Down a long and twisty highway
to an old gravel road
Then turn on a dirt road half forgotten
Their lie the gates to Prairie Hallow
A peaceful place to rest old and young,
rich and poor all are held
In this Hallowed ground the generations meld
On the hill the civil war solders rest
there's a war never forgotten
As time and weather take their toll
The stones are replaced so I was told
But on this night once a year
the Hallow rings with joy and cheer
Singing playing dancing here
it's the best night of the year
But as midnight draws clear and bright
The souls soon know they must call it a night,
a year,But never fear
as solider dances with ladies fair and
Shouts of laughter pierce the air
Next year new friends will join the fun
As all go back to rest one by one
For All Hallows Eve has ended and
With it the fun suspended
Till next year when on this night
the souls will once again take delight
...But for now they must call it a night.
