Rebellion
Based upon Holiday by Green Day
It burns so bright, rebellious light,
For curfew long since passed,
We’ll keep it live through the night,
As all the crowds are massed.
It sparkles in our hearts and eyes,
Reflects on scar-crossed skin,
It echoes in our fearsome cries,
And resounds deep within.
Deceit has met a quick defeat,
A cheer is sent around,
And history, put off repeat,
Lies bloodied on the ground.
Midnight gives a tired sigh,
It cannot fight our fire,
A revolution in the sky,
Above we who conspire.
A fever of youth untouched by rule,
Generation of love and rage,
Painting a world that’s not called cruel,
The walls and the streets our page.
Call it hope or call it treason,
We fight for freedom’s sake,
Riot screams not without reason,
This war is make or break.
