Why? Chapter Twenty-One

I glanced once more at my packed bags. Two suitcases, my boot bag, my saddle bag, tack chest, and bridle bag. I couldn't believe I was leaving. I had packed up a few of my most important photographs and wrapped them carefully into my suitcase.  

"Hey." Liam's voice floated to my ears. I spun around and saw him leaning against the doorway. He met my eyes and then glanced behind me and let his gaze wander over my begs for a little bit before meeting my gaze again. I nodded to him and leaned back onto my bed.

"When is your flight again?" He said, he sounded strained but he never broke his gaze.

"Uh, tomorrow night." I looked down and fiddled my thumbs.

"Are mom and dad taking you or do I get the honor?" He joked, I looked up at him but his eyes just looked sad. 

"They were hoping it would be a family affair I think." I confined, a smile tugging at my lips. He grinned and came and sat next to me. 

"Ooh, so we have hopes for some MILF or DILF?' He asked, wiggling his eyebrows and nudging me.

I wammed my shoulder into him. "Ew! Liam knock it off!" I repremanded, laughing at him. He leaned away and laughed with me. 

"And you're totally ready?" He asked, raising one eyebrow. 

"One-hundred percent!" I answered with a cheesy grin. He smiled back at me and gave me a shoulder hug before standing and walking out. My phone vibrated and I glanced down expecting another going away party request. 

Go outside on your balcony.

I furrowed my eyebrows but stood up and opened up my door and pulled my door open. I walked out and glanced over. 

"I know you're leaving tomorrow night, and I know this will fuck everything up, but I can't have you leaving with us just broken up; I love you Carter, I love you way too much to not try. Please try with me! For us." Kade stared up at me, his hair in a bed-head like way, from running his fingers through it too many times and his shirt was wrinkly. Yet he still managed to take my breath away, especially with that speech. I ran out to meet him and lept into his arms burying my face into the crook of his neck. 

"I love you so much." I confessed quietly squeezing him tightly. "I know I won't have tons of time to Skype you or anything but I want to try." I said leaning back and looking him in the eye. 

"Okay." He said, a small smile on his face; his eyes twinkling. 

"I've got to go to bed soon though, like I'm excited we got back together and all but, I do have to sleep soon." I stated, glancing down. 

"Uh, so I assumed you'd say yes to this and all and I asked permission from your parents to spend the night tonight as long as you'd be okay with that?" He rushed out looking at me shortly and glancing back down. Which made me more uncomfortable that the eye contact; I mean he was looking down my shirt. 

"I don't care how worried you are, get your eyes up and out of my boobs." His head immediately snapped up to meet mine and a light pink covered his cheeks. 

"Oh, and that sounds perfect." I said calmly, as my heart beat out of my chest. He set me down and wrapped my hand in his and led me back into my room. 

"We're going to bed." I shouted out my door, emphasizing the 'We're' before shutting it and going to crawl into bed next to Kade. I pulled the blankets so they covered me and he peeled off his shirt before crawling in next to me. I went to tuck myself around facing him and he wrapped his arms around me. His cologne intoxicating me. 

His warm torso surrounded me and it made my last night at home much more comforting. I closed my eyes and took a breath in. Kade pulled me closer and his chin fell to the top of my head.
