WALLYS POV
"So what's you think of the movie?" I asked quirking and wiggling my eye brown in Linda's direction as I intertwined my fingers into her closed hand. Linda rolled her eyes taking a step down the sidewalk, "They honestly all deserved to die. What kind of bright idea was it to walk further into the woods at night? Bright idea numero uno, they should have known better than to do something so dumb." Linda grumbled into her large overcoat. Suppressing a giggle, we continued to walk down the city sidewalk, hands swinging in unison. "I think you're being too hard on them, I doubt they understood what they were walking into." I gallantly defended the dumbest teenagers I have ever witnessed, with a bright smile plastered on my face. "Oh I'd almost forgot that you'd be the dumbos running into the woods in the middle of the night." Linda softly punched me with a laugh that was impossible to let speak on its own.
Once back at our apartment, Linda opened the door revealing a path of rose petals decorating the floor with candles following them. Linda turned around both confusing and anticipation painted her face, leave it to her reporter mind to build a story already upon her tongue. "Wally what are these doing here?" Linda asked skeptically a smile began to spread across her face yet there was a glint of concern. Covering her smaller hands with mine I gave them a light kiss shushing that glint, "Why don't we find out?" She turned to face the petals once again and nodded, a fire began to burn within me full of nothing but love. Linda took my hand and directed me into the house along with her.
The path winded through the house and found us at the living room, where there laid a simple note upon the coffee table. Linda reached to it with determination splayed on her face, yet the second she finished reading it she turned on her heals tears fighting in her eyes. "Wally." She choked out, I sat comfortably on the love couch holding a box of chocolates and displaying my biggest most sincere smile, a play off to being a massive teddy bear at the core temping my tear ducts. "Happy 1 year Linda. I hope you had a lovely day." She nodded whipping off the tears before plopping down at my side wrapping her arms around me. "This was all wonderful Wally." She pressed a soft kiss to my lips hugging me tightly within her grip. "I love you Wally." Pressing a quick kiss to her lips I whispered a quick "Love you too Lind."
A week later
Being in charge of Young Justice was never supposed to fall upon his shoulders, hell he was about to turn oh however old he was. There had been many opportunities for him to leave, to retire to a normal life with Linda by his side. Or maybe be promoted to a bigger hero's game of the Justice League, when Berry had offered him the position. However, it never felt right to leave, not when Aqua Ladd left, not when Miss Martian had upgraded, not when Superboy had followed soon after. Nothing had changed, with Dick gone, Wally couldn't bring himself to abandon their creation not when he had the ability to stay within his grasp within his means. Young Justice had always meant more than the mass of them, but the idea that it could function without them made Wally wanna barf. The entire idea of Duck made Wally wanna crawl back into a hole, too much was left unsaid so much undid, the possibilities were not within his control, the entire time fate had been playing with their futures and had shown no mercy towards their sprouting life.
Before my thoughts on Dick could continue Linda wiggled a bit at my side cuddling herself further into the couch and me. Brushing a hand through her hair a sigh escaped through parted lips, sometimes I tended to forget about the world around me. It wasn't hard to begin to faze into the background noise of the worlds when all I could think about were the what ifs and what could never be.
Bringing my attention back to the world I noticed everyone within the room. Linda at my side on the couch in Mount Justice. Beast boy, Robin(Damian), the new recruit Superboy(Jon), Wonder girl, Batgirl(Stephanie), and Impulse in a somewhat circle shape playing what looked to be a game of cards and talking of which I couldn't really hear.
Linda turned to me "So this is basically what you guys do if there's no mission or anything like that?" I smiled amused by her question. "Yeah pretty much just waiting for anything to pop u-"
A loud swooshing sound pulled my attention and everyone else seemed to be taken aback by it as well. What looked like a small twister was forming in the center of the room I looked around thinking it might have been Red Tornado but this one was off for one it wasn't a well red tornado.
The tornado took everyone by surprise stealing all of their attention and causing their game to be put down as the tornado ran ramped. It didn't really pose a threat. Standing up to take charge the tornado suddenly began to disperse. A single man stood at the center of it his hood and gloves hard to identify from the outside of the turning air. "What's that about?" Linda inquired her bravery unwavering as she gripped me shoulder to gain my attention. "I don't particularly know."
