18. get lost

"Jesse, let's go!" Dele called

A month or so after I left Marcus, I bought a new house near Dele.

Both Marcus and I were struggling. Even though she asked us not to, we tried and called Aura but she changed her number and blocked us on all social media.

Obviously, that shit hurts but I guess it's what she needs.

And Marcus and I needed our space as well. I just hope one day we will make up.

I grabbed my bag and brought it downstairs. Today, Danny Welbeck, Dele and I are headed out to Florida for a well deserved holiday.

Well, I say well deserved, we just got bored with the shitty weather.

"Let's go!" I cheered as I bolted out the door towards the Uber we hired.

"We're in Florida baby!" I shouted from the balcony of the house we had rented. The view was beautiful, the weather warm...I could get used to this.

"Mate, let's head down to the beach. It's late so not many people would be there" Danny suggested

I went and changed into swimming shorts as it's boiling and not that far a walk from the house.

Once we were all changed, we headed out the door and made our way to the soft sands.

As we walked, I gazed at the sunset, just remembering how much Aura said she enjoyed seeing all the colours merge into the night sky.

"Dude, I think you blew a fuse from thinking too hard" Dele laughed

I laughed too as I tried to mask the emotional pain I was still in.

Without even noticing, we had reached the beach and were now heading into the water to cool.

"Dude, let's go cliff jumping" I pointed out a safe looking area on our right

We headed towards them, made sure they were safe and began to jump into the water.

Soon we were laughing and joking and causing such a fuss.

"You guys got enough room for a few more?" We heard from behind us

We were greeted by a group of 6: 3 guys and 3 girls. All of them seemed around our age.

The girl who spoke had wild black hair that complimented her dark brown eyes. The guy right behind her was tall, tattooed and muscular (definitely a gym buff). One of the girls had frizzy hair tied up in a bun and bright blue eyes (must be contact lenses)

The other two guys were strong looking but smaller compared to the other guy, one of them had red hair and his arm was wrapped around the waist of one of the other girls

She had long ombre braids tied up in a ponytail. Her skin a soft brown that shines under the setting sky. She was a bit shorter, and a curvier than the other girls. She had a tattoo on her right thigh and a pair of sunglasses covered her face.

When she took them off, I recognised her straight away.

"Jesse?"

"Auralee?"

I stood in shock as the girl who I had loved for 2 years was right in front of me.

"How have you been?"

"Are you fucking serious?!" I exclaimed

"Jess come on--"

"No Aura! You left me and then out of the blue you just publicly announce that people like Marcus and I don't matter to you. Marcus was right, you are an ungrateful bitch"

"The fuck did you call her" the guy that had his arm around her began to square up

"A bitch, now if you don't mind I'm going to try and avoid you for the rest of my life Aura"

"Jesse, please let me explain"

"I'll call you when I'm ready" I spat back, mocking her Original message.

I ignored the calls from her and the lads and just walked away.

Why did I react like that? I thought I'd be happy to see her...I guess we just weren't meant for each other.
