Wavepelt blinked open her eyes, dazed. I can see Wolfpaw again... and Bearfur!
Her body ached with pain. Wait... pain?
Pain! That meant that she wasn't in StarClan!
How in StarClan did I survive that? Wavepelt realized that she was lying on her back, stretched out on a type of flat stone... in a Twoleg nest!
Wavepelt looked around, panicked. How did I get here? Why am I here?
Then, a slab of white stone opened and a Twoleg came in, and he smiled when he saw Wavepelt. He came closer and took something out from a little square hollow trunk.
"Get away!" Wavepelt raised a paw feebly, her claws unsheathed.
"Don't hurt him!"
In the entrance was Trinity.
"Trinity?" Wavepelt mewed. "What...why...what's the Twoleg doing?"
"He's helping you!" exclaimed Trinity. "My housefolk are good at healing. Once they've healed you and you're better, they'll let you go. It's happened before."
"But...how did I get here?" Wavepelt was still confused by that.
"Oh...yes, that." Trinity glanced at her Twoleg, who was examining one of Wavepelt's hind legs. "There's a former kittypet that lives near here. He's named Ray. He used to live with Twolegs, but they abandoned him in their nest.
"Anyways, Ray was walking alongside the Thunderpath when he say your body. Your two hind legs had been broken, and there were scratches and bruises all over you. Had you been hit by a monster?"
Wavepelt nodded slowly, and winced as the Twoleg touched one of her broken legs and started wrapping something around it.
"Ray knew that my housefolk were gifted healers, so he carried you to my house," Trinity continued. "And the Twoleg immediately started treating you."
Wavepelt noticed that all of her wounds had been covered with a white poultice of some kind.
"Do they use herbs?" she asked softly.
Trinity shook her head. "No... I don't know what Twolegs use, but it works."
Wavepelt closed her eyes, "How long will it take for me to heal?"
"Uh... most cats are here for at least a moon."
"A moon!" Wavepelt's eyes flew open. I can't stay lying down like this for a moon! "My Clan needs me!" she protested. "They're probably really worried!"
"Don't worry!" Trinity assured her. "The Twolegs created some kind of contraption that will allow you to move around, even with your hind legs broken. But you need to rest."
Wavepelt closed her eyes again. "I guess..." She was asleep immediately.

She woke up at the ThunderClan camp.
"Now you see what happens when you don't have courage."
Wavepelt whipped around to see Nightshade. "Did you cause this?" she demanded.
Nightshade shook his head. "We knew it would happen, but we couldn't stop it."
"But why?" Wavepelt wailed. "I have to stay in this Twoleg nest for at least a moon with my body on fire!"
Nightshade was silent. Instead, he twitched his tail, and a white tom with thick black stripes padded out from behind the nursery.
"This is Birchstar, the leader of ThunderClan before Goldstar," Nightshade meowed.
