Marshalls POV

We got out the van, arriving before anyone else. Neither of us let go of our hands, they stayed clasped together like glue. I knew she could feel the sweat between our palms but she didn't care. Fuck it I didn't either. I let her lead the way as if she knew where we were at. Her face was in such awe looking at her surroundings. Of course I could see why, there was land around us with no barriers, she could run if she wanted to. But maybe that wasn't what amazed her. It was the architecture - how simple everything looked, comfortable. Nothing like when she first entered Perilous the way it looked like a prison. Or the last home where we were at - the way it looked haunted. This place was new almost, no blood shed.

She went on telling me how beautiful it all was, asking questions about what everything was. Of course I answered her, something here had to change.

But the clasped hands and beating hearts all quickly came to a fast end once the other vehicles came piling in the same order once again.

"Stay here." I told her, letting go of her hand.

The vans stopped and soldiers came out of each one scattering around taking equipment and other necessities out that came from the offices back in Perilous. I saw Tristan come out the car, looking for Amira probably. Because he wants her, Marshall. Get out. Get out.

"Tristan, come'ere." I called out to him.

He walked over to me of course. He knew he couldn't really do anything else.

"You're going with the Tech group, they'll be expecting you," Before he could walk away from me I grabbed him by the elbow and pulled him closer. "She's the only reason you're still here don't get any ideas." I was trying to fight but my pride just couldn't keep that in.

I could hear Dre's voice shouting orders at the soldiers, telling them where to place what and whose alls tasing and going back to Perilous' head quarters. I turned back to Amira and slightly gazed my hand to hers to get attention. She followed me along the trail to where we'd both be staying. The building was modern but still with a classic look to it, large windows occupied the front of the house but a large garden surrounded it. Amira seemed to be in awe with it. She walked over to the flowers picking one of tallest she could find sticking up from the ground and brought it inside with her.

"I know there's so much more to see, but I want to take you up to the office first." I said to her, catching that slight smile I've barely ever seen from her.

The walk to the office wasn't much different from the one back at the headquarters. I made sure that it was that way for too many reasons, come to think of it. As we walked our footsteps echoed throughout the hallway, it was so silent and neither of us had the guts to break the ice. I don't know what that was in van. How close we were, and the way we spoke to one another. I overpowered my insecurities and a little bit of what our life would be like together blossomed. But the thought of it is making my head hurt.

We finally came to my office door, I opened and there we stood in another close space together. Alone. She noticed the two chairs sitting in front of my desk and walked over to it sitting down, her legs crossed waiting for me. I walked over to my desk sitting across from her and just stood there taking her in as much as possible because after she reads those files, I might never see her again. The thought occurred to me that she was confused by my actions, so far, so was I. But for another odd reason I didn't want her to think I was trapping her or putting her up to a test. I walked to her from behind my desk, took her hand and walked a little further to where the bookcases were and sat her down on the floor. I picked a folder smudged deep in the book case from when I had no time to put in the safe case the last time I was here. As I held every single file in my other hand, I placed it right between Amira and I on the dark navy blue rug.
