Colton POV

I jolt awake when I hear my phone buzz loudly and I instinctively pull Taylor closer. I rubbed my eyes and blinked a few times before they adjusted to the blaring light of the tv. I turned it off and reached for my phone that was still buzzing.

"What?" I answered gruffly and rubbed a hand through my hair. Taylor slept soundly on my chest spooning me like a backpack. "The poachers have come on the territory." My eyes light with fire and I slam the phone down getting out of bed carefully to assure I don't wake my mate up. It was early morning now and I knew she wouldn't be happy with me if I woke her before twelve. I rushed out the house into the blizarding rain, allowing it to hammer down on my back in vicious balls.

"Sam, Ely come with me." I shouted to them when I saw them along the boarders to rogue territory. "Bates go to Taylor, I'm not leaving her alone." He runs in the direction I have just come from and I stare at the other boys left.

"Go to their camp and light it. They're are not welcome here." I instruct lowly and the boys discourse. Sam and Ely stay by my side as we run into the forest.

It's time to drive them out.

"Erm, Alpha?" I lift my head from my desk towards the door. Isla stood there in her doctors uniform and holding her clipboard close to her chest. "Yeah?"

"Taylor hasn't come out of the spare room..." she says hesitantly with worry stuck on her face. "I tried to get her to eat something but I could only hear her crying." It broke my heart to hear that and I let my head fall into my hands.

"Can I ask you a question as a friend and not as a pack member?" Isla walks further in the room and takes a seat opposite me. I nodded and she took a deep breath before continuing. "Do you really think she slept with Cody?"

"Honestly, last night it seemed possible but now I'm in the right mind. No, I don't think she did." Sleeping away from her last night was one of the most painful things I've ever done and I actually didn't get to sleep at all. "Don't you think you should tell her that?"

"I don't think she wants to talk to me." I sighed and put my pen down. "Its not right to assume that and I know if it was Maxen and I in this situation I'd want him to talk to me no matter how stubborn I was acting." She stood up with a small smile and I returned one not nearly as bright.

"Bye." She walked out the door and it softly closed behind her. My mind ran wild as images of Taylor made me want to break down crying myself. Isla was right though, I have to talk to her and apologise for accusing her of that. I exited my office and walked down the silent hallway toward the spare room. I tried the handle but it was locked so I lightly knocked on the door. "Baby, open the door." Silence replied.

"I need to talk to you...I know you didn't do what Cody said you did." Still nothing. So I sat against the door tapping my foot against the wall making futile attempts to talk to her. Thinkjng to the moment after she said she loved me. "C'mon Baby, you need to eat something and we need to talk....I need to talk." I heard shuffling from in the room and I half hoped that she'd open the door but it stayed locked.

"Sweetheart please." I begged her feeling the tears well up in my eyes again.

"Why can't you see that I love you not him!"
