Yona smiled, feeling greatful that she finally heard her say a full sentence.
" it still is. But .. I haven't eaten it in 9 years " Yona said, her lips pursing.
" It's his fault, Haeran. He moved out of the old house, cut all the connections between you and I. He forced me out of your life " Yona couldn't stand it anymore.
" Why didn't you take me with you? " Haeran asked, her quietness still in her voice.
" I couldn't. I had so many possibilities in my mind. If I ran away and too you with me, what would happen if he found us? I was still unstable and you were sick sweetheart. I had no money in the start, I wanted to build myself first, provide the right environment for you then take you back. I never expected he'd get revenge by stealing you away " Yona explained, her voice shaking.
It all made sense to Haeran now. Her mother sacrificed this much for her?
" I returned begging to my parents to take me back in. But you know what happened? They kicked me out, saying that I chose Gimwang and I have to take responsibility for my idiotic decisions. I was broken, being abused by him, kicked out by my parents, seperated from the only human that kept me sane. " Yona's eyes were glassy, few tears dropped from her large eyes.
Haeran's own eyes teared up easily, hearing how much her mother went through.
" I swore to myself that I will not ask for anyone's help. I swore that I'd build myself from zero. I worked and worked and prayed and worked more. " Yona clenched her fists. " I finally felt like I accomplished something. But I was still afraid to approach Gimwang. "
" I don't blame you .. " Haeran cut her next sentence. " I'm glad you didn't approach him few years ago, he would of done .. horrible things "
Yona smiled, despite all of the tears that were flowing down her face, she was happy. Happy that Haeran is finally speaking, long sentences with her.
