Chapter 1: Rainy

Rainy's P.O.V

I watch the man pace around in the room. As if he was nervous or something. What would he want from me anyways?

The door opens once again and Wagner is thrown into the room.

Blood drips from his nose and mouth. His eye is black and blue and he can barely move.

"Wagner?" I whisper. He flinches and I let out the breath I've been holding since I saw him for the first time.

"Hey Wagner! Wait up!" I yell after him. He stops and turns around and watches me as I run towards him. I hold my breath as he's about to talk to me.

"What wrong?" He asks me.

I hold my books in my hands and rock on my heels.

"I was uh, wondering if, uh, you were doing anything, um Friday night?" I kept scratching my head and I kept tripping over my words.

Ugh, such a typical girl.

"No, why do you ask?" My heart starts beating really, really fast.

"Well, um, do you wanna, uhh, come over?" I scratch my head again.

He chuckles.

"Yea, sure." He says, then walks away.

I'm still holding my breath, not once breathing out as I watch him walk away.

It was just so quick. Did I do something wrong? No, he said he'll come over, I dont know what I did wrong. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Yep, I'm completely paranoid.

I smile and start walking towards my locker. There he is again.

He flashes me the most beautiful smile and I blush, but remember I can't let him know that I like him.

"I think he knows." I whip around to see Allyson.

"Knows what? What are you talking about? Where would you get an idea like that? What?" I raise my eyebrows at her and give a really small smile with big eyes.

Still not letting that breath go.

"Rainy, I'm your best friend, I know everything about you. Who your crush is. Your favorite color. Your favorite food. Your imaginary boyfriends name!" She says it louder than the rest, and I elbow her in the stomach. "Oof." She grunts.

"Now shut up." I Give her the death glare.

All of a sudden, the fire alarm, the tornado alarm, and the intercom start buzzing.

I cover my ears and so does Allyson.

Allyson's eyes are blank and she just stares into the distance. I look over to Wagner, who is making his way towards me, but gets hidden by the crowd of teachers and students.

A voice in my head telling me to 'keep quiet, keep quiet' but another voice comes from my mouth.

"WAGNER!" Allyson grabs my arm and pulls me back.

"We are staying together! Together till the end! Remember? We're not dead just yet.." I nod my head and smile at her, and she smiles back.

We keep pushing through the halls as the alarms go off. A buzzing from my purse vibrates my side. I reach down and grab the buzzing object.

MOM

I answer the phone.

"Mom? Whats wrong?" Her breathing is heavy like she's been running.

"Do not go anywhere! Stay there! Everything is gonna be fine!" I start to panic.

"Why would you say that? Is something wrong?" Just I finish my last word, I look out the window to see blood smeared on the glass, and my Science teacher eating one of the members from our chess club.

Allyson is a weak girl, so I core her eyes, and we start heading in the opposite direction of the crowd.

"Mom, don't worry, I love you." I then tap the red button on my screen to end the call. "Okay Allyson, don't look out the windows? Okay?" She nods her head.

We're almost at the end of the hall when a rabid student comes bursting out of the cafeteria.

Allyson screams, but I kick the large 'boy' away from us and we keep going.

"Rainy! What going on?" Her eyes big.

"It's okay, sh sh sh." I say, to try and calm her.

But I what I didn't notice, is that I'm still holding my breath.

And I wish I didn't let that breath go. Cause a large boot comes barreling down onto Wagner's side.
