Aria's P.O.V
...
I tap Firess's back, to show I understand that we need to run, right this moment. Who knew there were actually other survivors around these parts.. I don't even know where we are. Oklahoma? Maybe.. or Ohio? I stay there for a moment, leaning my lips close to her ear.
"My gun is on my right side in the holster, maybe you can get it quickly, or slowly so he won't notice." I wasn't moving, acting as if the person staring right at us wasn't even there. I have to admit.. I am scared. I knew Firess was staring right at that person, probably scared as well. This.. This could actually be the end. Oh man, that actually sounds nice. To be free, to live without worry at all. Without care. I didn't notice until I felt a small jolt at my side that Firess had already started to move her hand to grab my gun. Even I hadn't noticed. She's pretty good at stealing things, always has been. She's smart..
This time she was fast, ripping the gun from my holster and standing up quickly and aiming the gun forward. I stayed crouched down by her feet, staring at a youngish man, older than us, by at least 3 years, 22 or so. His hair was kept short, and his clothes were clean. He wasn't dirty, and he wasn't pointing a gun at us, he had his hands up in surrender, his gun by his side being held up by a holster.
"Put the gun on the ground.." I whispered to him, keeping my eyes on him. He had dark hair, and blue eyes, and he was staring at Firess.
"And the knife." Firess said sternly to him, gesturing towards his boot. I didn't notice, but now I do.
"And the other gun." I said quietly, pointing to his pocket. Firess kept her arms steady as the man pulled the gun out, slowly, placing it on the ground and then the knife, just as we directed, and then the gun he kept in his pocket. He was loaded. He has to have a camp around here somewhere. This sun was just at the horizon, darkness getting ready to engulf the sky of water. The moon and stars getting ready to shine, but I doubt that will happen, as clouds were lining the skies quiet harshly.
I crawled forward, grabbing the three weapons and putting them in my lap as I sat down on the ground. Firess shook her head, handing me the gun, and sitting down next to me.
"Firess, you know the world needs you." The man whispered, staying put. How did he know her name? Why was he being so calm? Why wasn't he just running like nay normal person would? Most importantly, why wasn't he acknowledging me? He was breathing heavily, as if he had been running. I had four weapons in my lap, the two guns of his, his knife, and my own gun. If he came at us, he was goner for sure. I'd shoot him right between the eyes.
"Please, come back to the bus? We c-" Firess let out a huff of air, her sharp words coming him off quickly.
"Gage.. Shut the fuck up." Gage? Who's that? "We all know.. I'm going to go to Florida and just become a human test subject. I don't want that.. So you're either going to have to force me, or go the fuck away." I stood my feet after setting all the weapons on the ground, next to Firess.
"Who the hell are you? You just can't come and tell her that's you're taking her to Florida. No way. She has a family." I said quickly, narrowing my eyes at him.
"Her family is dead." He said quietly, letting out a silent chuckle through his nose.
"I'm her family. There's this other wonderful girl, name Rainey... She'd do anything for her-" I pointed at Firess and then pointed to me. "She'd do anything for me, too. Hell, Even her boyfriend would do anything for us." I said quickly, tilting my head. "Don't ever fucking say that she doesn't have family. She always will, because i'm not going anywhere~" I paused a moment, shaking my head. "And neither is Firess." I said with a small sigh to accompany it. "You'll have to get through me to get to her and without any weapons, that'll be kind hard." Firess grabbed my hand wrist and shook her head.
"He still has one. He's to smart to give all of them up."She said, her face looking disgusted as she looked at him. I gestured for him to leave, shooing him away.
"Leave. Just go." He took a step forward and Firess handed me the gun. He put his hands up again, shaking his head.
"I'm gonna hurt you..." He said loudly, as if angered. "Believe me!" He yelled this time, the sun now completely gone. Firess pushed herself off the ground and towards him, putting her hand over his mouth. Her eyes looked around frantically, my beating fast, hoping no stalker's heard his yell. Firess but her hand behind him, pulling out a knife and throwing to me. I caught it swiftly as she gestured forward.
"We can't leave him out here, we have to take him back." She said quickly, removing her hand from his mouth. "You, keep your mouth shut. Aria.. take us home." I nodded with a small smile as i bent down, picking up the guns and knife and putting them in various places, anywhere where I could store them until we back to the electric less cabin of hell.
"Allyson and Rainey there.. so.." I whispered quietly, her face lighting up a little as I spoke. "Wagner.." She whispered quietly, pushing my back, as if that would make me go faster, and holding the man named Gage's wrist tightly with hers. I'm sure it hurt, but she's not that strong, she'll have to let her grip loosen soon. I returned the large smile as she spoke, giving a nod as I held onto my backpack tightly, readjusting it on my shoulder.
"Okay, okay, I'm going, I'm going." I said quickly, jogging forward, pulling out a flashlight from the side of my bag and shining it forward, letting Firess hold it so she could see where she was going, too. Imagine all of us back together, Wagner, Allyson, Rainey, Firess, and Me. I'll make sure no one splits us up. I let out a huff of air, remembering that Gage guy was going to be with us. I shook my head, looking at the ground so I could see where I was going.
My brain started to flash back, to when we were all in that house, with Austin, and Cade.. man.. I miss them a lot. Austin's happiness, and the way Cade was so smart and thoughtful. They were a true pair together, too. Ah man.. Jason. I let out a quiet laugh and smiled. My cousin, my cousin who Firess thought was so hot. It was so weird. I shook my head, and my attention was pulled away by a bright light, no way it could be a light of some sort. I sniffed the air, my eyes widening.
"Fire." I said, and started to run, barely able to see with Firess and Gage limping along behind me, Firess holding the flashlight. I started to breathe heavily, dropping to my knees as I saw the cabin, Allyson and Wagner's bodies on the ground, far apart from each other, Wagner's breaths non existent. Wagner dead, Allyson on the ground, Rainey missing and the cabin with all of our stuff in it, up in flames.
