"I missed you babygirl," Jahseh said in a raspy voice

"I missed you too Jah," I said as tears began to fall from my eyes.

"Lets go home baby girl," He said as he wrapped his arms around my shoulder.

When I got home, the phone rang and as I looked at the caller number I seen it was the hospital.

"Hello?" Said the operator

"Hi."

"Is this Nataly?"

"This is she."

"I just wanted to make sure a few things were clear since you're still a minor."

"Okay."

"The funeral will be held August 29th."

"Okay."

"We have to find somewhere for you to stay since your still a minor. Do you have anyone in mind? I would hate to see you in a foster home."

"Yes, but what about emancipation?"

"We could do that but you still need to live with someone 18 or older"

"Yes I know."

"I know your birthday is tomorrow, but it'll be better the quicker we handle this."

"Can we settle this today?"

"Sure just make it to the courthouse at 5:00."

"Okay I'm on my way."

"Who was that?" asked Jahseh.

"It was a woman from the hospital."

"What she want?"

"To tell me my options since I'm a minor"

"I heard you say something about emancipation?"

"Yeah I did"

"You know you could live with me right?"

"Yeah I know. I just didn't want you to be my guardian since your my boyfriend. That'd be weird that's why I was gonna get emancipated."

"That's true but I'd be a daddy," he said smirking.

"You may not be daddy but you're a zaddy." I said cracking a smile for a minute

"That's refreshing."

"What is?" I asked as my smile began to fade.

"You haven't smiled the whole time you've been back. It was like a breath of fresh air."

It was awkward silence until I decided to break it.

"...can you take me to the court house so I can get this settled today."

"Yeah sure let me grab my keys."

"Okay I'll wait by the car." I said as I walked outside.

"Hey, how are you? I heard a bout your mom passing just know I'm hear for you," i heard from Micheal.

"I'm as good as I can be. Look.. I'm not trying to be mean but can you-"

"I leave for one second and you're already talking to him?" Said Jahseh in a questioning tone

"He came here, and I was just telling him to leave but he was actually just asking me how I was."

"Look I know you were there for her when I wasn't I appreciate that, but I got her you don't have to worry about her anymore," said Jahseh as he opened the car door and let me in.

Michael just walked back to his car.

I felt kinda bad, but I have other things to take care of and think about.

"Well that was quicker than I expected"

"Yeah so do you wanna stay in your house until they state the claims or do you wanna move in soon?"

I have about 2 weeks till I have to move out since my mom was paying off the mortgage of the house.

I'm gonna move in with Jahseh well now no one can tell me how to live my life. I can even get married and not have to ask for permission.

"You good?" Jahseh asked.

"Yeah just thinking. What did you say?"

"Did you wanna move in or stay for awhile?"

"Oh right can we stay for another week? I-I'm just not ready to leave."

"You don't even have to ask babe."

I just stared out the window.

"I know you don't wanna really do anything for your birthday, but can you think of something you might wanna do?"

"I guess we could go to Friday's or something."

"Okay that's what we'll do then."

"Oh my god Jahseh that dog right there is so freaking cute."

I said pointing to the dog that was walking across the street

"Yeah I love dogs." he said

"Dogs or cats?"

"Well every time I get depressed I get a new cat, but I don't know I just love animals"

"Oh."

We were at the mall quicker than I knew it. I picked up a black dress to wear at my mom's funeral.

Jahseh picked out a few collard shirts and some black jeans.

"Yeah, we'll order something in.0

"At least we got a lot done today. We made it an eventful day huh." said Jahseh

Truth is even though I've been with him all day, I just feel like I'm alone. Like there's so much space between us we're in two different universes.

He's trying I know he is but I just- it's hard. I'm trying to be strong, but it feels like my whole world is falling apart.

I I wish my mom was still here, I just-sometimes it feels like I'm just trapped...with nowhere to go.

But I'm lucky to have Jahseh by my side. At least he's trying to help me keep my mind off of this.

I heard Jahseh take off his shirt and pants before I felt a dip on the other side of my bed as he lifted up the covers.

Jahseh reached around my waist and said, "I love you bae..good night."

"I love you too..good night."
