*Justin's POV cont.*
The young girls words seemed to leave a mark on my mind even when I left. I know this may sound a bit cliche to say, but the lyrics really touched me for some reason.
It was almost as if she were singing directly to me in a way, even though she probably didn't even notice I was there watching her.
I really hope to see her again, just so I can leave her an even bigger tip.
After a few more minutes of walking I had finally arrived at the bookstore. It was a small building that was surrounded by tall, beautiful brownstones that showed just how beautiful the city could be.
I opened the worn down door and heard the light sound of the bells that were placed on the door to alert that someone had come in.
It didn't take me long to see Alex standing on a chair, placing a stack of books on the shelves. She didn't even turn as she spoke in a soft voice.
"Hello, would you need any help picking a book today?"
I smirked, stuffing my hands into my back pockets as I stood behind her.
"Ah, yes. I'm looking the book 'Ways To Get My Girlfriend To Pay Attention To Me', I heard it's pretty popular."
Alex suddenly recognized my voice and turned away from her work. Flashing me a wide smile, she got down from the chair and embraced me in a warm hug.
I could smell the vanilla scent of her hair which has found it's way to intoxicate me just as much as it did when we first met.
"Pretty surprising to see you here." She let go of me after a few seconds and crossed her arms, a strand of hair falling from loose ponytail. "And no, that book is already sold out."
"Damn, I should've gotten here sooner then." I grinned and placed a gentle kiss on her lips. I could taste the strawberry lipgloss that she always wore and couldn't help but lick my lips as I pulled away.
"You should've. I was in need of your help earlier." Alex kissed me again, then walked back to the stack of books. "So what actually brings you here?"
I had forgotten all about the talk we were supposed to have. Taking a deep breath, I crossed my arms over my chest.
"We need to talk."
"About what?" Alex put some more books on their correct shelves.
"Us." I walked towards her and took the book she was holding out of her hand and placed it on the desk next to her.
She gave me an confused look but before she got the chance to talk, I quickly cut her off.
"Alex, you know I love you more than anything and I know you love me. But...it's like we don't even spend time together anymore. I just don't want us to end up being one of those couples that don't even have time to be together." I was surprised at how east it was for me to say this.
Alex seemed surprised to.
"Justin...You know how busy I've been with managing things here. It takes up almost all of my time, plus if you really cared this wouldn't be your first time coming here to see me." She crossed her arms.
"What do you mean? Of course I care Alex." I sighed.
"Yeah, so spending all your free time with that blonde chick is caring." She scoffed and got back to her work.
"Miley has nothing to go with out relationship and you know it." I can't even believe that Alex would bring up her as if it would make everything better.
Alex seemed to get angrier at what I had said. She shook her head and let out a noticeably fake laugh. "Oh please, ever since you two have gotten in touch again she's all you ever talk about."
In a way she's right, I guess. I have been talking about me and Miley a lot around the house but that's only because I felt that Alex didn't seem to really worry about our friendship. Besides, she talks to me about work and her boss every day.
"And ever since you've bought this place your 'boss' is all you ever talk about."
I didn't even mean to say that out loud. It definitely seemed to push Alex to the edge even more.
"You know what Justin, I would greatly appreciate it if you would leave right now. We can talk about this when we're home." She said in a low voice.
"That's the thing, we barely even talk to each other when we're home."
I understand how Alex has every right to be mad at me too, but she's always the one that never wants to speak out against anything that she thinks is wrong. She's been like this since we've first started dating.
"Justin, just please...go."
Alex closed her eyes for a moment as if an attempt to calm herself down. Shaking my head, I made my way towards the front door.
"By the way, you shouldn't be bringing up Miley when you speak you boss more than me." I gave her a quick last look before leaving the bookstore, hearing the bells chime as I walked down the New York streets.
Authors note:
I'm so sorry that it took me this long to update! I've been busy with work and stuff so I haven't been able to really write.
The reason why this chapter is only in Justin's POV because I felt as if you guys as readers don't get to see things in his point of view as often as Miley.
Also, please make sure to follow me so that you'll be updated whenever I update again. Thank you!
