*Justin's POV*

The only thing on my mind at the moment was getting to my grandfather. Everything else had no meaning whatsoever. My main focus was making sure that he would be okay again, how he always was.

After the phone call with my mother everything became a blur. I can hardly even remember the train ride to the apartment, or the buzzing of my cellphone deep in my pockets. I still haven't checked it yet, afraid that it would be my mother calling with more bad news that I don't think I'll ever be ready to hear. The weight of the electronic device seemed to make my pockets seem even more heavier than they are.

Opening the front door, I ignored the bitter sweet feeling building in my chest and headed for the closet in the hallway. I still had the suitcases that I moved with, I only needed a small one since it wasn't like I was heading to a vacation or anything.

Rummaging through the winter jackets, old hockey and camera equitments, I found the smallest suitcase that I could fine. It was dark blue with worn out patches on the sides. Good enough.

I entered the bedroom and saw that Alex had completely emptied her side of the room. Her collections of books that used to sit right beside her side of the bed were now gone with dust now occupying the spot. The dresser that we bout shared had empty draws that used to be stuffed with sweet smelling clothes were all gone like she had never stepped a foot in here. I wonder where she went. Probably with her boss, where else would she go?

I wonder what he said to her when she arrived at his door, I wonder if he welcomed her in with open arms as if he were waiting for us to break up, and I wondered if she would really be happy with him as she would've been with me. Maybe they had planned this all ahead of time so that they could live blissfully together in their own little world where I didn't exist. Maybe they were meant to be together after all.

Sighing, I set the suitcase on the bed and zipped it open. All I needed to pack was a few clothes because I'm hoping that grandpa would feel better in no time. I opened the dresser and began to fill the empty space. Soon after a few items the suitcase was filled and I zipped it shut.

Just as I was about to sit down next to the suitcase I heard the ringing of my phone, alerting me that I had a unheard voicemail.
I bit down on my bottom lip, debating on whether or not I should go check it. I didn't need to hear any more bad news today, but if it was an update about my grandfather's condition getting better I wouldn't want to miss it.

I picked up the phone and saw that I had a missed call from Miley. Furrowing my eyebrows together, I wondered why she would even want to talk to me. I ruined everything for her and messed up our friendship. She wanted nothing more to do with me and I wanted to respect her decision.

Before I could even process what I was doing my fingers dialed Miley's number. I was just going to see what she wanted, that's all. There's nothing wrong with that.

The phone rang for a few seconds, which made me get annoyed by the sound of it ringing. Soon enough though I heard her light voice.

"Justin? H-Hey, thank you for returning my call. Did you get my voicemail?" I heard the sound of moving cars in the background. She was probably on her way back home, to Nick. Where she really belongs.

I sighed. "No, I didn't. I figured that I might as well just call you to see what's up."

There was a small pause on the line. I imagined her chewed on her lip, trying to think of what to say.

"I uh, heard about your grandfather and I wanted to see if you would be okay..." She whispered in a quiet tone. "So...Are you okay?"

How did she know? My mom must've probably talked to her. Running a hand through my hair, I had to think before answering her question. Was I actually okay? I lost my girlfriend, lost my best friend aka the girl that I may still be in love with, and my grandfather is sick.

"I'm fine Miley...thank you for asking." I lied. The one thing that I didn't need right now was breaking down, I need to be strong. I have to. "I'll be okay."

"I know this may sound a bit crazy but if you need me to go to Canada with you I will. I don't want you dealing with all of this alone..."

I wasn't even surprised that she wanted to go with me. It was like her to be by my side through everything I've gone through. When I didn't get accepted into my dream college, she was there. When I was stressed out over senior year and my future, she was always there to calm me down and let me know that everything would be okay.

The only thing different about this situation though is that she now has something holding her back.

"What about Nick?" I mumbled. He would be pissed if he knew that Miley would be flying to Canada with me. There was no chance in her being able to accompany me.

There was a hesitation in Miley's voice. It was like she had just remembers that she's engaged now and can't just drop everything for me.

"He'll understand...I hope." Another long pause, "When are you leaving?"

I thought for a quick second. It would be impossible to find any flights now. "Early in the morning. We can meet at the airport i you want."

"Okay...I guess I'll see you then."

God, why does she make me feel this way?

"See you soon. Have a good night Miley." I replied, hanging up the phone soon after.

This was going to be one awkward plane ride.
