Winter and Olivia settled in the backseat. They were so fidgety, they kept stomping on each other’s feet, or wringing their hands or shooting each other nervous but happy looks. They could hardly stop thinking about Hogwarts and they could hardly stop grinning. Then, Olivia realised that if
they were going in such a big car, there must be more people and also there were three more trunks in the boot along with theirs. When Olivia pointed this out to Winter, they both jumped up to get a better view. They saw Harry in the front, he looked just like they had imagined him. They looked at the seat just in front of them and couldn’t believe their luck. “Albus, Lily and James! We’re going to Hogwarts with the Potters!” they both squealed. This caused all three siblings to look back. The twins were quite pretty and thin with tanned skin, long brown hair and blue eyes and Albus looked immediately interested in them, ogling a little at Olivia. Even James didn'timmediately think they were an immediate bore (he thought everyone younger to him were a bore). Albus and Lily took a liking to the twins and soon found that the twins had a great sense of humour. Albus liked the fact that the twins were interested in Quidditch and they were pretty good looking. “Hi Lily! Hi Albus! Hi James! How are you?” asked Olivia, excitedly.
“Great! I can’t wait to go to Hogwarts! I am starting my first year over there
too!” replied Lily.
“Good!” replied Albus, slightly less enthusiastic.
“Good,” replied James sounding bored.
“Wow! We can’t wait to start Hogwarts! I can’t believe we’re in the same year as you, Lily! We both have dreamt of it so much!” said Olivia as she nudged Winter with her elbow. “You are excited, aren’t you?”
“Yeah! I am excited,” said Winter dreamily and went back to staring.
“You look slightly old for being in your first year,” said Albus carefully.
“Yeah well, we’re twelve. We were supposed to go to Hogwarts last year but the amount of Muggle-borns in your year was so tremendous, we were over-looked. Our magical ability is also slightly less than normal too. We‘re not even accepted into Hogwarts yet! We’re just going for a trial,” said Olivia. She looked miserable. Albus saw this and said, “Don’t worry, you’re going to do fine!” Olivia brightened up a little bit. Winter choose that moment to come out of her shock of discovering the Potters and said, “What’s happening?”
“Win, my dear twin, you’ve just missed talking to my new friends!” said Olivia, her eyes twinkling with delight. “You can always count on Winter to spice up things when she was confused,” whispered Olivia to Albus and Lily.
Lily and Albus giggled. “What?”asked Winter, groggily. This caused the three of them to roar with laughter. “Oh! I expect Olivia said something witty about me!” said Winter, slightly angrily.
“No, she didn’t say a thing about you! But does Olivia usually make witty
remarks?” asked Albus.
“Yeah! She does! She hardly ever keeps her mouth shut!” said Winter.
“Look who’s talking! You talk more than me!” replied Olivia.
“Olivia, are you headed to Ravenclaw? I was hoping you’d come to Gryffindor with me!” said Lily, anxious to change the subject. Olivia cast Winter a smug look, as if to say, the Potters prefer me to you. She replied, "I want to be in either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. Though I prefer Gryffindor out of the two."
“I want to be in Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff or Gryffindor,” said Winter.
“Who wants to be in Hufflepuff? No offense, but it’s the house where all odd people go. Cedric Diggory, Pomona Sprout and Tonks are the few decent people it produced! I love Gryffindor, where the brave dwell at heart!” snorted James.
“I love Hufflepuff no matter what!” said Winter, defiantly.
“What do you think about Ravenclaw? After all, wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure!” asked Olivia.
“In my opinion, it’s the second best house!” said Lily. Olivia grinned with
pride, she loved Ravenclaw!
“How can Ravenclaw be the second best house? Second best is Slytherin!”
said James, ending Olivia’s euphoria. “Told you, Olivia! Albus, what do you think about Hufflepuff?” asked Winter, smirking. Finally, someone would recognise Hufflepuff.
“Oh, Hufflepuff is a bore! They’re just a bunch of oddballs! Even Ravenclaw
isn’t as great as Lily says! Half of the Ravenclaw kids have too big glasses!” said Albus, casually.
“Ravenclaw isn’t bad! If only people would get out of their little cloud of
Quidditch house points, Ravenclaw might win the house cup!” said Olivia, her anger expanding.
“Hufflepuff isn’t bad either! Challenge Hufflepuffs at Herbology and you’ll
see!” said Winter, catching up on Olivia’s anger.
“Ok! Ok! We all like different houses and we can all accept that! James and Lily love Gryffindor because they’re inclined towards loyalty and
Gryffindor-ian qualities. The same goes for Winter and Hufflepuff and
Olivia and Ravenclaw. We can’t judge each other for that,” said Albus, trying to calm the atmosphere. Winter was beginning to feel slightly desperate for attention now and then something caught her eye. “If anyone is interested, we’re arriving at King’s Cross!” All the kids immediately stopped arguing about the best house and gaped outside the window as the car drew closer to the station. Even James put his miniature version of firebolt 6 inside his pocket and joined everyone as they looked at the station that would take them to their paradise. Now there was nothing special about King’s Cross station when you looked at it. It was crowded and full of people going about their daily jobs. It only became wonderful when you crossed the barrier
between platform 9 and 10 and entered platform 9 and ¾ where you could board the Hogwarts Express and arrive at Hogwarts. Several muggles stared when the Potters and the twins came out of the car when they were expecting a family of four only. Also, they stared at Albus, James, Olivia and Winter’s owl cages rattling on top of their trunks as they pushed their trolleys. Lily’s pygmy puff got a lot of attention too. Finally they got onto platform 9 and ¾ and Winter and Olivia could hardly stop gaping! There was Percy Weasley ranting off about broomstick regulations and cauldron thickness (“Even after twenty years?” whispered Olivia to Winter, which set her off, giggling), one witch was sending showers of red sparkles flying just for the amusement of her little baby while another witch wearing a Ministry of Magic badge yelled at her to stop, another wizarding family was
dressed in the strangest assortment of muggle clothes Olivia and Winter
had ever seen, the whole Gryffindor Quidditch team in complete Quidditch gear were boarding the Hogwarts Express and there was the Longbottom family searching for their two missing toads (“Typical Longbottoms!” whispered Winter to Olivia). Finally, they found Ron and Hugo Weasley who were waiting for them. Ron and Harry grinned at each other and Ron asked, “Are they the new twins?”
“Yes, they are Hermione told us get them along,” replied Harry.
“Could I have both of your autographs? I am making an autograph book, you see?” asked Olivia, making a brave effort to talk. Winter slipped into her third trance of the day. Harry and Ron smiled at her and agreed. They both signed the autograph book. Olivia was really happy with her autograph collection now! If only she could get Hermione’s too. A thought occurred to Olivia. “Where are Hermione and Rose Granger-Weasley?” asked Olivia, she
felt odd using their last names since she and Winter usually mentioned
them with their first names only.
“Hermione is now Headmistress at Hogwarts and Rose is off with her
friends as are Albus and James. Olivia looked around her and realised that
indeed both of them had sneaked away.
“Oh! That’s amazing! I can’t believe we’re so lucky! Hermione’s Headmistress!” exclaimed Olivia to Winter. Then, she turned to the adults. “I always wanted to meet both of them!” Ron looked pleased that he had such a famous daughter and wife. Lily tugged at Harry’s sleeve. “Dad, can we get on the train now? You guys need to get to Hogwarts too,” she said.
“Oh! Yeah! I almost forgot! You can get on the train now! Stay safe!” said
Harry.
“You can go with Hugo!” said Ron.
“Bye dad!” said Hugo and Lily.
“Bye!” said Olivia and Winter (who had come out of her shock silently this time) . And together, the four of them boarded the train. Hugo, who had no desire to be stuck with three girls for the entire train ride went to find a compartment with boys of his age. The twins and Lily went to find an empty compartment.
