Time skip to two weeks after the incident at Charms. Winter and Olivia still aren't talking.

Winter

It's been two week and I haven't spoken to Olivia. We passed by each other in the hallways but I took Aline's advice and refused to acknowledge her. I'm really mad at her but she seems to be like my good luck charm. I have three classes with her- Herbology, Charms and DADA- and they're the only three I'm doing well in. Professor Malfoy has given up hope on me and continuously taunts me and Professor Granger is on the verge of giving me extra coaching. I have to talk to Olivia about this.

Olivia

I told Ian about the incident. He encouraged me to make up with Winn and I tried but she ignored me every single time. My stubbornness took over me and I gave up on her. Besides, my grades were terribly low and I was constantly worrying about them. I was doing terrible in half my classes and studied until late in the night until Ian pointed out that I was only doing well in my classes with Winn. We started researching in the library about what this could mean because it certainly couldn't be co-incidence.

For a week we read every book we could find about twin magic. One evening, I was completing potions homework in the library while Ian researched. Suddenly he said,"I think I found something! This book says that there is a rare occurence of twins every 50 years or so who have powers linked in such a way that when they are closer to each other, their powers would be stronger."

"Do you think we could have been that rare occurrence?" I asked.

"It's a possibility. But, you both would have to have more solid proof to go and tell a teacher about this. Right now, you'd just sound like you're blaming your bad grades on an ancient curse."

"Yeah.. you're right. I wish we'd have all our classes together, though. I hate not being able to do well in my classes."

"Spoken like a true Ravenclaw." he chuckled while I glared at him. "Uh oh! The death glare has turned on me!" I broke down laughing too and fell off my chair. After getting quite a few weird stares, we decided to go up to the common room, not without borrowing the book Ian found, of course.

Winter

I walked to Charms with Aline, making up my mind to talk to Olivia as soon as class was over. We joined the Ravenclaws in the waiting line outside but Olivia came and told us, "They split up our Charms due to timetable issues. All Slytherins have Care of Magical Creatures right now."

"What?" I exclaimed.

"I thought you'd be happy about that."

"I have to talk to you, alone," I whispered.

"After lunch then. I have to talk to you too," she whispered back. I nodded and walked to Care of Magical Creatures with a sinking feeling. I hoped was wrong about Olivia somehow linked to my magic because, now I only had two subjects remaining which I was good at. Aline looked worried about me, "Are you okay?"

"If I tell you what I'm thinking, you'll think I'm crazy."

"It's ok, I know. I try not to read you but sometimes like now, you shout out your thoughts to me. I know you're worried about Olivia and her link to your grades. I can try and help you practice to bring them up."

"You would? Thank you so much!" I laughed and hugged her. Aline was the best friend ever! I shouted that thought to as loud as I could and she looked at me, startled and smiled.

Olivia

As I expected, Charms went really bad. I couldn't levitate a single feather today when last class, I'd done five in a row. This was our proof- Winter and I had magic connected in such a way that when we were closer, it was stronger. Now, we just had to wait for Winn's next Charms class and she would perform bad and then, we could tell the teachers and hopefully get our timetables changed. After failing for the tenth time, I sat back frustrated. Ian laughed and said, "C'mon. Even Edison tried a hundred times."

"Remind me where you read that Edison's creativity was bound to a twin who wouldn't stay close to him," I said, snorting.

"Fair enough." Ian shrugged and went on.

(time skip to a week later)

Winter

We've both had two Charms classes each and it has gone from being our best class to our worst class. Professor Granger and Malfoy have set us up for remedial classes for Potions and Transfiguration with an assistant of theirs and Professor Patil is considering adding Charms too. Ian has been slowly working his way through the book, researching the full extent of our predicament.

Ollie and I were walking up to the Ravenclaw common room so she could drop off some books when Ian rushed out and bumped into his. "Good, you guys are already here. I was reading the book and because its so old, the information is ordered chronologically. And, the most recent information gathered says that the reason the curse is so rare is because the twins aren't really twins but a triplet. The third member of the triplet must be separated from the twins to begin the curse. Apparently, the third member acts as a source of energy almost. To activate the curse, you have to come in close proximity with the triplet after at least ten years."

"But we don't have a third sibling," said Winter.

"Either our parents have been hiding something from us our entire lives or we really are pathetic at magic and deserve to go back home," said Olivia, grimly.

Hey guys!

I'm really sorry about not updating for ages. We've had a lot of the story written down for ages but we forgot to update it here.
