Finally, the three friends arrive back at the patch of private grass: their training spot.

"Whoa..." Reid tells his horse.

Crusty slows his trotting to a halt.

Reid drops his reins and begins climbing off. "So, what do we do first?" He hops onto the ground and faces the other two.

Nolan steps up to him. "Why don't you do dodging with Kale?"  He nods at Kale.

Reid shrugs. "Sure! Sounds good!"

Kale makes a concerned expression at him. "How can you dodge though?"  He whips out a metallic wheat stalk from each hand, holding them from his sides.

"I won't dodge" —Reid snaps his wrist outward, a majestic sword swiftly materializing in his grasp— "I'll defend." He holds the sword's blade out at him.

Kale's and Nolan's eyes fly open in awe at the weapon.

The sword has a golden hilt with a smooth, white metallic blade bearing a golden stripe on its left side.

"Whoa!" Kale blurts out. "How'd you get that?"

"Who in their right mind would give YOU a sword?" Nolan asks with surprise.

Reid pulls the sword back to him and twirls it in his grip. "This is Felix, my trusty sword. I can never lose it and I need it to fight."

Nolan shoots him an unamused expression. "You named your sword?"

"Yeah!" Reid has wide eyes. "It deserves one!"

Kale proceeds to slap his forehead.

"It's an object," Nolan hisses.

"Okay, okay, okay—" Kale waves his stalks in the air like a landing signal officer. "Duker, let's get going."

A smirk forms on Reid's face as he begins to backup, swinging his sword by his side. "You're on." He then halts a few feet away, his sword protruding downward from his hip.

Nolan backs away from the two with a smug smile, excited to witness the fight.

Kale spins his two wheat stalks in the air then thrusts them at top speed at Reid.

In a flash, Reid slices the two stalks with ease, leaving behind a trail of golden energy.

The severed stalks fall harmlessly on the ground.

Kale and Nolan both have shocked looks at the knight.

"Wow!" Nolan exclaims with wide eyes. "Impressive!"

Reid twirls his sword around as it emits humming sounds to the momentum and emitting a soft, golden flow of energy. "Wanna go for round two?"

Kale opens his mouth, ready to reply, when Nolan steps in front of him, eyeing the knight.

"I'll do it," he tells him firmly with hands on his hips.

Reid's eyebrows shoot up. "Oh! Okay! With what, exactly?"

Nolan whips out a spread pile of throwing stars glinting in the sunlight in one hand. "With these."

Reid nods his head with a closed smile. "Sounds good!" He locks his eyes on the stars.

Nolan transfers half of the pile to his other hand and loads both of his hands behind him. He then throws his arms before him, releasing the array of the razor-sharp stars at him.

Reid rapidly swings his sword by his shoulder then snaps it to in front of him.

Instantly, a thick blast of golden energy emits from the blade, striking every throwing star at once.

The stars blast into numerous sparks, drifting down harmlessly as the sword halts its release.

The three power players stand still, their eyes wide at the last of the sparks floating onto the grass.

Nolan lifts his shocked eyes at Reid. "What...was that?"

Reid holds his sword to his vision, gazing down at its blade with proudness. "Ah, just Felix doing its own thing."

"That's one sweet sword you got there,"  Kale points out with a happy, toothy gawk.

Reid turns to him with a warm grin. "Why, thank you!"

Nolan nods at the sword with crossed arms. "Okay, I must admit, that's a pretty cool sword."

Reid spins Felix around once before aiming it at the tallest teenager. "Don't underestimate Felix!"

Nolan lets out a heavy huff. "Hah, okay."

Kale has skeptical eyes on Crusty, who is idling under a shady tree. "And what's your horse good for?"

Reid spins to face his destrier. "Crusty here is my means of transportation." He faces the two. "He can ride like the wind." He swipes his hands out from his chest, mimicking Crusty "ride like the wind."

"I bet my glider's faster than your horse," Nolan states cockily with a raised eyebrow.

"Or maybe I can out-beat you two with my wheat flight," Kale suggests, pointing to both of them with one stiffened wheat stalk.

Reid begins walking up to Crusty, peering at the two from his shoulder. "Well, there's only one way to find out!" He climbs onto his saddle and grabs his reins. "On your mark..."

Kale conjures fluttering stalks of wheat around his hands.

"...get set..."

Nolan's glider begins to smoothly form underneath his feet.

"...GO!"

In a snap, the three former teammates rush down the grassy hill, two of them heading into the skies as the other one rushes on his horse. They speed away from their spot, disappearing from sight in a friendly, supernatural race.
