Chapter Three

When Clary walked out Jace tried to follow her, but Alec grabbed his arm.

"No" Alec said. Jace looked at Jocelyn. 

"Why didn't you tell us about the wings they're sort of important" Jace asked Jocelyn.

"We were trying to protect you, all of you." Jocelyn said.

"We're Shadow hunters we are trained for this stuff" said Jace his voice rising a little.

"Clary is not a shadow hunter. She hasn't had the training and experience you do. She is still my little girl!" Jocelyn was angry now.

"Clary is a shadow hunter. She has been since she was born. You were just scared about Valentine and what he could do."

"DON'T TURN THIS ON ME!" she yelled.

"IT'S YOUR FAULT." Jace yelled back. they were nose to nose now. Luke and Maryse stepped forward.

"I think we should take a break, maybe get some air" Maryse said.

"Your right. If anyone needs me I'll be at Taki's for lunch."

"I'm coming" Isabelle said.

"Me too" said Alec.

"I'm going to find Clary" Jocelyn said to Luke.

"I think Clary needs to be alone right now, how about we go home and call her later?" Luke directed Jocelyn out of the Library.

"I'm calling Simon" Isabelle said.

"Jace..." Maryse touched Jace's shoulder but he shrugged it off and walked out of the library Isabelle and Alec next to him.

They were walking along the street towards Taki's.

"Simon's on his way" said Isabelle. Jace didn't care he saw Alec give him a glance but he just kept his gaze straight ahead.

"You should call Clary, make sure she's ok" said Alec. Jace didn't feel like talking but he knew he was right. He took out his phone and dialed her number. It rang twice before she answered.

" Hey Jace what's up?" she asked.

"Just checking to make sure you're alright." he said. trying to sound convincing. There was silence on the other end. Then she hung up. Jace took the phone away from his ear and looked at it.

"She hung up on me". Said Jace. Isabelle looked at him and started laughing.

"You should see your face right now" she said.

"Isabelle" Jace shot her a look before jamming the phone into his pocket. Isabelle stopped laughing and looked at the ground. They turned the corner and past an ally, where Jace swore he saw a flash of red hair. He stopped and walked backwards.

"Clary?"  he asked. She turned around and it was indeed Clary. "What are you doing here?" Jace stepped forward.

"Jace i can explain" Clary took a step back and someone next to her stood in the light.

Sebastion.

Jace stood still and he could hear Isabelle and Alec gasp.

"Clary what are you doing with him?" Jace asked trying to keep his voice even.

"I sent her a note telling her to meet me hear, i thought she would have told you" Sebastion said grinning. Jace looked at Clary.

"Is this true?" Isabelle asked.

" I was going to tell you guys after we finished talking, he promised he wouldn't hurt me or any of you." Clary said to Jace. He looked at Clary.

"and you believed him?" he asked. Clary looked at the ground

"What were you guys talking about?" Alec asked.

" he wanted me to go with him, somewhere where he couldn't hurt anyone... and i said i would go" Jace looked at Clary with utter shock.

"YOU SAID WHAT?" Jace was yelling he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"I'm sorry Jace but he said he would spare all my friends and family. I have to do this." Jace turned to Sebastion.

" You..." Jace didn't bother finishing his scentence. He charged towards Sebastion, but he already had Clary in his grasp and he was gone. Jace stood there frozen before turning and walking off.
