KATARINA’S POV

I was fuming.

As I walked through the hall I got a few congratulatory pats on the back but mainly I received scowls from barely dressed girls. Luke’s groupie’s probably.

I couldn’t care less.

“Hey what’s wrong?” Ashton said, grabbing my arm

“Nothing” I said looking up at him.

My eyes began to water.

“Do you want to talk about it?” he asked, concern laced his voice

I shook my head and dropped my eyes to the ground.

“Katarina!” Luke shouted from down the hall.

I looked at him and then back at Ashton who was giving me a quizzical look.

"Did he--?" he began before I cut him off.

“I have to go. I’ll talk to you later Ashton” I said looking at him.

“Okay” he replied, letting go of my arm.

I was thankful that he didn’t push me to answer him. I certainly did not want to break down in front of him or Luke for that matter.

I immediately began walking away from him, aware that Luke would catch up to me in no time if I didn’t keep moving.

“Katarina! Wait!” I could hear his voice getting closer.

I walked faster until I was finally out of the west wing of the building.

“Katarina!” he shouted.

I kept walking, quickening my pace.

“Hey” he said grabbing my arm and pulling me slightly closer to his body.

“Let go of me!” I yelled, looking up only to realise it was Calum.

A look of pure hurt flashed across his face.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend you at all,” he said in a whisper

“No! I’m so sorry! I thought you were someone else,” I said softly, looking beyond his shoulder to see Luke standing near the door of west wing.

Calum followed his eyes to where I was looking,

“Is he giving you trouble?” he said growling

“Not really” I squeaked

“Not really?” he asked, still looking at Luke.

“I’m okay, I swear,” I said weakly tugging on his jumper sleeve, in a bid to shift his attention to me. It worked.

His face softened before he pulled me into a tight hug.

“He’s an asshole to everyone, including myself. Don’t take it personally angel” he whispered into my ear, causing me to shiver.

I liked the way his arms felt around my waist and I leaned into him further, taking in the way his muscles felt against my skin. His scent was intoxicating – a beautiful mix of sugar and spice.

The moment had passed all too soon when he broke away.

“I’ll drive you back to the coffee shop” he said looking down at me.

“Thanks Calum” I replied, thankful that he was here.

“Leaving your car at the coffee shop just to avoid paying the university car park fee probably wasn’t the best idea today Kat” he said laughing
