Katarina's POV
Wednesday and Thursday went by so quickly; I had kept myself occupied with the assignment, crafting it as close to perfection as I possibly could.
I had decided to skip lectures all week mainly because I didn’t want to face Luke.
How would he treat me after the debacle on Monday night?
I was afraid to think that he had gone back to being the Luke that I had first met, especially when I felt like I was just starting to knock down the wall that he had put up.
I sighed as I entered the lecture theatre armed with a coffee in one hand and my flash drive and thesis in the other, I was nervous for people to see my finished product but I was excited at the same time. There were only a few students in the room when I sat down in my usual seat; there was no sign of Luke anywhere. I breathed another sigh, this time one of relief. I read over my thesis again and again as I waited for the class to begin.
“Hey Kat!”
“Calum! You frightened me!”
“Sorry, what’s wrong? You look so worked up” he replied, sitting down next to me.
“Do I look that bad?” I asked, frowning.
“No silly, I just noticed the way you were chewing your bottom lip” he replied softly.
“Oh, yeah that’s a habit of mine” I looked away, embarrassed.
“Relax, I think it’s cute,” he said reassuringly
“So what did you end up doing for the assignment?” I asked, trying to change to topic quickly
“I chose ‘motion’” Calum replied, handing me over his thesis statement.
I skimmed over the contents of the page. His work was beyond incredible. Each sentence was beautifully written.
“This is amazing Calum” I said, in pure awe of his talent.
“Why thank you milady,” he said in a terrible British accent
I burst into a fit of giggles “don’t ever try and imitate a British person again!” I managed to say through laughs
“Alright class, settle down. Today is the big day!” Professor Young’s voice boomed through the room
“Seriously, when does that guy walk in? He’s like a magician or something,” Calum whispered.
I nodded in agreement.
“Today is the viewing session of your assignments, who’s excited?” Professor Young said enthusiastically, clapping his hands together.
There was dead silence.
“Okay then, do I have any volunteers to go first?” he asked the room full of nervous students. “I guess I’ll have to choose a random name from the class list then”.
Professor Young closed his eyes and began to run his finger down the page with all our names on it.
My heart rate began to accelerate.
“My first victim is…. Benjamin Travis” he announced
Everyone turned around to look for the poor soul.
Ben slowly rose from the back of the room and made his way down to the podium.
“Introduce us to your topic and the name of your piece please Benjamin”
“Um well, uh my topic is um, Nature and I called the piece um, ‘Nature’” Benjamin replied, nervously.
“Okay, show us the piece Ben” Young said rather disappointingly
