Katarina’s POV

I arrived home and headed straight for bed.

 I was drained.

I lay down and started to go through Facebook, watching all the Vines that appeared on my newsfeed.

I put my phone down next to me and closed my eyes for a second before it buzzed.

Hey Kat, it’s Ashton. Do you mind if I come over? Need to talk to you about Calum and Luke.

My heart started beating faster and I could feel my palms go sweaty.

I had picked up on the tension between Calum and Luke but I was not prepared to ask either of them what was going on.

With shaking hands, I replied to Ashton “Sure, come on over”

Seconds later, a response “Thanks, what’s your address?”

I sent him my address and waited for his next response

“Cool. Be there in an hour, just dropping Sonya home”

Sonya wasn’t going to be here? I wonder if she knew that Ashton was coming over. Almost instantly I started feeling guilty.

I forced myself to get out of bed in order to clean up around the house.

I checked the time on my phone: 6:07 p.m.

Should I make dinner for Ashton? Or was that suggesting something?

The grumbling of my stomach aided in my difficult predicament.

I started making lasagne.

Just as I had finished cooking dinner, the doorbell rang.

I took the lasagne out of the oven and walked to the door.

Before I opened it, I took a deep breath in and exhaled.

“Hey Ashton!”  I said cheerily, only to notice that he wasn’t at the door – Luke was.

“Hey” he said confused

“What are you doing here?” I asked

“Ashton has a girlfriend Katarina,” he said, raising his eyebrow.

“I know that” I replied, confused as to why he was telling me this.

“So you go for taken guys?” he asked, not hiding his disgust in his voice.

“I’m not ‘going’ for him Luke. He asked to see me, not that I owe you an explanation at all,” I said, starting to get angry

“I didn’t come here to fight with you” he sighed.

“Then why are you here” I replied, crossing my arms.

“I wanted to apologise for my behaviour today. It was uncalled for” he said softly walking closer to me.

I took a set away from him.

“You’re only saying that because you need me for this assignment Luke”

“That’s true” he replied honestly. He paused for a brief moment and then continued; “I don’t really care about what I said to you today, I just need you for this assignment, plain and simple”

Anger coursed through my veins.

“I’m expecting some company so I think you should leave” I said firmly

“Can’t I stay for dinner?” he said mockingly.

“Please leave” I step stepping away from the door to allow him to leave.
