Chapter 3

Both Yuri and Monika were in pajamas and unpacked, but they still didn't know who was sleeping where.

"Monika who's... Sleeping where...?" Yuri asked, quiet enough for Monika to hear and not wake the others. "Well, we can look for an air mattress..." Monika wandered out into the hall on a hunt for a closet, which she found.

"Sayori's gotta have something, but sleeping with Yuri doesn't sound like a bad idea... In a non-sexual way of course."

Monika did find an air mattress, and debated whether she should actually use it.

"I either cuddle Yuri, or sleep in the same room as her. I don't want to make her uncomfortable..."

Monika grabbed the box and carried it into her and Yuri's room.

"Okay, found one. Now I'm not sure how to..." Monika unboxed the mattress, looking for instructions. "I think you... Blow into the hole.." Yuri hadn't done this before, but neither had Monika.

Twenty minutes passed, and with all the air and effort Monika put in, it wasn't enough.

"Its... Really... Tiring Yuri... Maybe... You try?" Monika said between breaths, worn out from blowing so much air into the mattress.

Yuri rushed over and started blowing, doing her best to not let any existing air out.

"Oh, I see it. There's a hole in the side of it..." Monika and Yuri gave up blowing, trying to find out why their forty minutes total made no difference. "Is there... Any tape around...?" Yuri asked. "Not that I know of, but looks like we're sharing a bed huh Yuri?" Monika smiled to herself. "Ye... Yeah.." Yuri stood up, getting herself situated in bed while Monika waited by the light switch.

"Guess lying wouldn't have made a difference, I'm still sleeping with Yuri in an appropriate way."

Monika woke the next morning, realizing her arms were wrapped around Yuri.

Just enough sun was coming through the window for Monika to see she indeed, ended up cuddling with Yuri.

Once Yuri started to wake up shortly after Monika, Monika imediately retracted her arms and got out of bed.

"How'd you guys sleep!?" Sayori was as cheery as ever as she set down a plate of eggs and toast for Monika. "We slept well, but your air mattress needs fixed." Monika said, starting to dig into her eggs. "Oh.. Hehehe, whoopsies! I should've checked beforehand." Sayori said nervously. "It's alright, we slept just as well in the same bed..." Yuri added, but she immediately covered her mouth afterwards.

"You don't have to be nervous Yuri, it's not like I'd think any lower of you..."

The three girls, watched T.V most of the morning, not wanting to do anything too loud in fear of waking Natsuki. Sayori told them it would be like poking a sleeping bear, a risk not worth taking.

"Are... Are you sure we shouldn't wake her Sayori...? It's... It's noon.." Yuri said, slightly concerned. "I'd agree, even though it's risky she is part of this, and she feels safe with us." Monika added. "I'll check up on her then, stay here." Sayori jumped off the couch and headed for her and Natsuki's room.

"I didn't shift too much in my sleep, did I?" Monika asked Yuri. "Oh... No nothing happened besides... Well..." Yuri trailed off. "What'd I do...?" Monika asked curiously. "You... Were... Well saying my name and... I guess to shorten it... Complimenting me over and over..." Yuri spoke quietly, but didn't make eye contact with Monika.

"Did I really do that?! Well I'd never know myself, but I kept Yuri up all night because of it!"

"It didn't keep me up though. I found it..." Yuri was cut off by Sayori and Natsuki walking downstairs.

Guess Yuri read Monika's mind.

Natsuki was leaning into Sayori's side, while Sayori held her close as they walked to the kitchen.

Natsuki's face was buried in Sayori's shirt, so Monika had no way of knowing what happened, especially since it's Natsuki we're talking about.

Natsuki stuck close to Sayori for the rest of the day, even when they were playing the Nintendo Switch Sayori had. Natsuki always leaned her head into Sayori's side or on her shoulder, and Sayori always had an arm around Natsuki.

"Did Natsuki confess or something?! She's only ever acted so quiet like this around that one boy, Jack. But even then, Sayori's always around Jack with Natsuki, and she's never been this shy.."

"Here, so this level I've tried a few times with Jack, but we can't seem to beat. Let's go into teams and see if we can beat our side." Sayori said, starting a level in Snipper Clips.

They only just started playing today, and everyone liked it as far as Monika could tell.

"Okay so... Monika and I are a team..?" Yuri asked when the level had finally loaded. "Yup! You're trying to get the right color button onto the right color path. Good luck." Sayori explained and imediately Monika got to work.

"No Yuri cut me into a hook, then I'll carry it over." Monika instructed, and Yuri did as told.

In Snipper Clips, you and a partner/teammate work together to do all kinds of challenges. To help you do the challenges, your teammate can cut you into certain shapes.

"Monika, you need to rotate when it gets to that point..." Yuri explained, which Monika tried doing.

She lost the button once again to the fan, which was forcing the little button upward and back to the start.

"No Yuri you don't rotate, cause then that happens." Monika said, holding back anger.

"Hey now it's not a race Monika you're working together.." Sayori chimed in, trying to calm the situation.

"Okay, Yuri move to the right-- No Yuri not now!!" Monika didn't mean to shout, she knew she didn't, but it slipped.

"Nope, I can't right now!" Monika raised her voice slightly, storming upstairs and slamming Yuri and her's temporary bedroom door behind her.

"It's just a game. It's something you can change. Why can't you do that?! It's an easy thing to do. Maybe if Yuri wasn't helping me... No that's gonna push her away..." Monika told herself that in a quiet voice, hoping to not be heard.

Then the thought came to Monika.

"Wait, what if what I just did pushed her away..."

Monika faceplanted into her pillow, but not long after she heard a knock on her door.

"Lil' Moni... I mean! Monika... Can I... Come in..?"
