Chapter 10

Monika woke up to the tweeting of birds, which was oddly loud. None-the-less, Monika sat up and stretched. Yuri also woke up.

"W-what..?" Monika groaned in her morning voice.

"I.." Yuri yawned in-between her sentence. "I set an alarm last night."

"Y-you did..?" Monika looked to Yuri to see she was also tired.

"Yeah, wanted to make sure we got to the festival in time." Yuri said, turning off the alarm.

The two girls double checked that they had everything, and together carried the things to the school.

"What'dya think the others will think of the poster?" Monika asked, setting the poster on the club room desks.

"Hmm.. I think they'll like it." Yuri said, grabbing half of the fliers and handing them to Monika. "Now we've got things to hang around."

When Monika grabbed the fliers from Yuri, she felt her hand brush against hers. Monika felt her face flush a deep shade of pink, possibly red, and grabbed a roll of tape to go hang the fliers.

As Monika hung the fliers, she had many thoughts run through her head.

"What if confessing, let alone coming out, isn't the right move?"

"She might not think the same, and this could all be a waste."

Once she hung the last flier, she walked back to the club room, head down.

"Hey Monika! Perfect timing! Natsuki and I just finished hanging up our fliers too!" Sayori grinned, hopping to Monika's side.

"Oh, that's great Sayori." Monika gave a fake smile. "The festival starts in around fifteen minutes, and we need at least two people here."

"Monika and I can stay first, and you two and enjoy the daylight you'll have." Yuri said.

"Yuri.. Y-you don't have to spend the festival with me. Spend it how you want to." Monika said from her teacher's desk, her head tiredly resting in her right hand.

"Then.. Then I want to spend it with you Monika." Yuri walked up in front of Monika, a small smile on her face with a tint of red.

Monika felt her face flush a little too.

"I-if.. A-are you sure..?" Monika took her head off her hand, looking to Yuri in disbelief.

"Positive." Yuri replied.

"Well, festival starts soon. Nat and I are gonna head out!" Sayori said, grabbing Natsuki by the hand and dragging her out of the club room.

"Natsuki really lets Sayori call her a nickname?"

Not too soon after Natsuki and Sayori left, the club room was slowly filling up with people who seemed to be interested.

"O-okay, now that everyone is here, lets begin." Monika stood from her chair. "The literature club is a place where anyone of any gender, race, sexuality, excetera are welcome. On the daily we write poems that we share with one another the next day, which is the only homework you will ever really have. To demonstrate some of the poems you'll see if you were to join, I am here with Yuri, a club member, who is going to share her writing with you. After her, I myself will share one of mine."
