Monika was last to arrive, and was let in by Sayori to see Natsuki in the kitchen and Yuri on the couch reading."We were just starting to bake cupcakes Monika! Maybe you could give us a hand?" Sayori chirped in her usual tone of forever happiness. "Yeah sure, whenever you're ready for me." Monika set her bag down beside the coat rack and took a seat next to Yuri on the couch.
"Do you... Plan on helping them Yuri?" There it was again, Monika the nervous wreck. No matter how many times she prepped herself to be with Yuri for the night, she still could not shake the nervousness out of her system. "I... I--." Yuri was cut off by Natsuki, who was shouting from the kitchen across the room. "Yuri will just screw it up! She doesn't know one thing about baking!" Natsuki retorted.
"Why does she hate Yuri so much? Can't she ever see through their differences? Yuri's life doesn't get better with daily bullies and Natsuki."
"Well let her decide huh? Maybe if Yuri wants to bake she can bake, there's nothing stopping her!" Monika spat, startling Yuri from her reading with her sudden outburst.
"Well geez Monika... You're worse than me..." Monika barely heard Natsuki, but heard it just enough to understand the tsundere's muffled words.
Embarrassed by her outburst and angered by Natsuki's comment, she grabbed her bag and faced Sayori. "Sayori where are we all sleeping?" Monika asked, more serious then she intended. "Up the stairs, the last room on the right is mine." Sayori directed, and Monika followed Sayori's directions.
The room definitely looked like Sayori's, the giant plushies and smaller plushies in corners of the room basically shouted "well what do ya know? This is Sayori's room!".
Monika set her bag with everyone else's, against one of the walls.
She stayed in Sayori's room for a good amount of time. Monika kept the door closed, sat on the bed, and looked outside Sayori's window. Not many things were out there besides the occasional jogger, dog walker, or a short flicker of a lightning bug, but Monika found it peaceful.
Yuri eventually walked in.
"Mon... Monika..? Are... You okay..?" Yuri hesitated to ask, setting her book beside the bed and taking a seat next to Monika. "Oh! Yes, Yuri dont worry everything's alright!" Monika took a moment to realize it was Yuri and not Sayori who came to check on her. "Well... Natsuki needed help with cupcakes. Sayori and her don't really know how to... Well what the instructions mean.." Yuri didn't make eye contact with Monika. "Oh, yeah I can help them." Monika stood, handing Yuri her book as the two girls walked down to the kitchen.
"Monika save us! We don't know how to bake!!" Sayori did her best to be a damsel in distress, but Natsuki wasn't amused. "Well.. Whatever idiot wrote these instructions doesn't know how to bake!" Natsuki huffed, looking to the side with her eyes closed and arms crossed.
Monika laughed slightly, and took a look at the instructions herself.
She also was confused.
"Hmm... Hey Yuri could you see if this makes sense to you...?" Monika handed the instructions to Yuri, who seemed to read them carefully.
Natsuki wasn't a fan of Monika's choice, but Sayori whispered something to her that must've changed her mind.
"It seems... We need to... Umm... Need to... Add milk to the... The batter..." Yuri gentally set the instructions back on the counter, walking back to the couch to read.
"Yuri wait!" Monika grabbed Yuri's hand just in time. She could see Yuri's blush through her hair when she looked away, but Monika was also on the blush train.
"Why did I do this? Think Monika! You grabbed her hand and said wait, now have a good reason for it!"
"Would you... Like to... Bake with all of us..?" Monika hated herself for being this nervous, but she was frozen still holding Yuri's hand.
"If... Natsuki is.. Alright with it.." Yuri pulled her hand out of Monika's grasp, playing with a strand of hair.
"I mean... She can decode idiot speak..." Natsuki grumbled, bit received an elbow from Sayori on her side. "Mmm... Fine! She can do it! But I won't like it.." Natsuki leaned against the counter with her arms crossed.
While the cupcakes were in the oven, the four girls decided who was sleeping in what room and with who.
"One thing's for sure, I'm not sleeping in the same room as Yuri." Natsuki stepped a foot forward, probably trying to emphasize her point. "Oh Natsuki, we all knew that!" Sayori joked, getting a small smile out of Yuri and a laugh held back with a smile from Monika.
In the end, Monika and Yuri we're sharing the spare room.
"If you want... You can sleep on the bed. I can ask Sayori for a... A sleeping bag.." Yuri set her things in the back corner, and so did Monika. "Ooh no if you want to sleep on the bed go right ahead Yuri! Whatever you want I'll be alright with." Monika smiled, getting out her pajamas to change into. "I guess then... We could sh.. Share the bed..." Yuri was quiet while she unpacked her pajamas, but Monika heard her.
"Why is it just Yuri that I get this tingling feeling? All I wanted to do was help her with her bullies."
Monika lost a battle with blush, and didn't dare look to Yuri knowing her blush would only go a deeper shade than it already was. "I mean I... I don't--." Monika was cut off by Sayori bursting through the door, one cupcake in her mouth another in her hand. "Cuspcakes are reasdy!!" Sayori cheered with a mouth full of cupcake, running back out to the kitchen.
The cupcakes were really good, probably the best she's ever seen Natsuki make.
"But Natsuki didn't make these, we all did, and it turned out better than I'd ever think."
Natsuki held the tray of cupcakes, trying to sheild them from Sayori while watching the movies.
The first one they watched was Sayori's. It was a pretty general movie, animated and by Disney. Everyone seemed to like it, as it was their first time seeing it besides Sayori.
Then Natsuki's, which Sayori kept saying it was "as cute as Natsuki, and was a Natsuki kind of movie." Despite Natsuki constantly saying she isn't cute.
Monika's was a romance movie, which Natsuki found gross, Sayori found somewhat interesting, and Yuri seemed to enjoy. Monika was glad Yuri liked it, and hoped she liked Yuri's.
Yuri's, with no surprise, was a horror movie. Natsuki hated it and got scared with and without a jumpscare, Sayori spent the time calming Natsuki, and of course Yuri enjoyed it. Monika did get scared at some parts, and fought the urge to actually show that she was scared to show Yuri she could handle horror, but did get scared.
When the jumpscare happened, Natsuki and Sayori both fell off the couch in each other's embrace trying to calm one another, but Monika imediately wrapped her arms around Yuri's waist like if she let go she'd die.
It was the worst jumpscare yet.
When Monika realized what she did, she quickly apologized and let go. Luckily the movie was over right after.
"Well time for bed! Goodnight and sweet dreams!" Sayori chimed in before each pair separated into their rooms.
