Walking through the sewers for ages was so tiring for Koa. All she wished was to be free and roam like Mali did. But unfortunately she had the god awful face that reminded everyone of a murderer. An assassin. Her mother.

Koa never asked to be born like that. In fact, she was the one who ran away the minute she found out how they got their "hard earned cash".

Koa slipped on the slippery floor and winced as she fell on her butt. She hadn't realized that she had been shot behind her right knee. Koa leaned against the cold walls and sat for a minute taking in the days events.

"Let's see. First, I was attacked in the one hideout I thought was free. They probably didn't know anything about me. Ethan and his annoying silver hair definitely knew. Besides, why in the world would he lie to my face and call me beautiful! Who does that!"

"I do!" Said a cheerful voice. And out came the last person Koa would imagine seeing. Mali came out with a lantern, face gleaming after finally finding her friend.

"I kept an eye on you, but you just suddenly disappeared! What do you expect me to do? So then I told myself that the only place you would hide was in the sewers and apparently you did," Mali looked at her with playful disappointment.

"So what do you want..."

Mali raised an eyebrow, "Learn to trust. You'll get farther in life."

"Trust who? My mom? The world?"

"I mean, one's dead and the other is practically dead to you so how about you just believe in me?"

Koa looked at her invisible knees. Mali chuckled and brought the lantern closer to Koa. She moved the lantern down so the light danced across her body. In finding the problem, Mali quickly swung the lantern onto her arm and picked up Koa princess style. Koa being too tired to argue, mumbled in protest and fell asleep blindly believing that Mali would protect her.
