They emptied out into the streets. Lena first, followed by June, Mali, and Koa.
June noticed that Koa looked paler than usual, but decided not to think too much. He couldn't be the cause of her breaking at the last minute.
He eyed the men walking around the streets and slowly realized the pattern.
"Guys, each one has their eyes on specific location," June said to them in a hushed tone.
"The kid's onto something," Mali teased.
June gave an exasperated sigh. Mali never knew when to joke around. Even at his hideout, she'd crack a joke even when there was a knife embedded in her shoulder.
Coming out of his imagination June discretely pointed out the locations that were currently being watched by the men. He pointed out three alleys, one rooftop, and the police station. Each having two sets of eyes on them.
"Well, lets go to that alley. There's a guy keeping an extra close eye on that one," Lena said confidently.
Koa lowered the hat that she had grabbed before leaving. The last thing she needed was one of the men noticing her face before they got there. She trembled slightly as she walked behind them.
June turned around and noticed her nervousness and faltered. He threw his sweatshirt over her shoulders.
"You seem cold," he said quietly.
Koa nodded as a way of saying thank you.
June nodded back before turning away. He couldn't have her feeling embarrassed from the sudden act of kindness, but that didn't stop him from turning a light shade of pink.
Neither Koa nor Lena had noticed, but Mali smirked lifting her eyebrows.
June groaned knowing that she'd get him back for that. Why was he acting all weird while they were trying not to get killed?!
They walked down the alley and into the darkness. They noticed one of the guys start to watch them. He walked in their direction. The sisters walked out the other way, leaving Koa in the alley, but watched in confusion when June walked out the way they came.
"June!" Mali hissed, "What the hell are you doing?"
"Helping in anyway I can."
He'd been useless this entire time. He needed to do something. Koa was terrified even if she wasn't showing it. And he felt really bad for trying to bail on her. Stupid right? Risking his life for a feeling like regret? But at least he'd be risking his life someone he cared about. Koa was Mali's friend; so she was his friend too. All he could do now was believe in Mali and hope he wouldn't die.
He walked out as the other man walked towards him. He stuck out his leg and tripped the man.
"Hey kid! Watch it!" He said gruffly.
"Why? It's not my fault you tripped. You weren't watching," June said rolling his eyes.
The girls watched in horror as the man glared at June.
Well, time to fight...
June held his breath as the older man knocked him over. He was significantly larger than him and he pinned him down sitting in between June's legs holding June down by pressing down with his hands right on his chest. June gasped as the air he held came bursting out. He coughed as he heard a faint voice.
"Do the thing! Do the thing!Try it!"
It was Mali. What thing? What was she talking about? Suddenly remembering, he moved his hands between the man's arms and moved them to opposite sides before pinning one down. He then moved his legs to swiftly flip over the large man. Upon doing so, he held one arm and slipped his other one under creating a handmade vice around the man's arm. His head hit the ground with a soft thud and he groaned unable to move. June looked over at Mali with a satisfied grin, but all he saw was a terrified expression as she ran towards him. Before he could understand why, he felt something hit his head. Then the world went dark.
