Abigail's POV
The next morning, I watched as Sylvia was all over Adam, but I also made sure to keep my eye on Sam. If he went anywhere with her I wanted to know about it. I never knew women in this time could be as clingy as Sylvia, but she managed to surprise me. Taking some time away from my new chores in the small town. I make my way to a nearby field they used for food. It was nice to be alone with my thoughts for a moment, just like before though it didn't last long.
"He doesn't love you, he loves me, and I think your time her is going to be shortened drastically." Sylvia said as she walked up to me with a club in her hand.
Great, she wanted a fight. What happened to blending in and trying to see what she was up to? Raising the club up high I prepared to fight her myself when I hear Adam call out her name at the top of his lungs. Immediately she drops the club and falls to the ground, almost like playing dead. Adam rushes over and looks down at her with an angry look on his face.
"What were you doing?" Adam questions Sylvia who stays silent for a moment then takes out a dagger I didn't know she had hidden and stands up quickly and stabs Adam right in his side.
Jumping ahead I can see her take off into the woods. Rushing over to Adam as he falls to his knees he looks at me. Holding the wound, I lay him down on the ground. Gently removing his hand from the wound, I can see blood coming from the wound but lucky for him it didn't look like it hit anything important and it wasn't even that deep.
"She didn't hit anything. You just need to keep pressure on it." I reassure him as he nods at me.
"Well there went that plan, what will we do now?" Adam asks as he grimaces in pain.
"Use Sam, send him out to find her but have him followed by Hannah that is the only option." I answer honestly as I tare off another piece of my dress and hold it to his wound.
"Why wouldn't you follow him?"
"Two reasons, Hannah is a lot sneakier than I am and there is no way that I am leaving you." I tell him as I help him to stand up.
Back in the small town, I manage to get Adam to his bed. Laying down, I can clean his wound with water and properly dress it. He doesn't say anything as I work, instead he just hums to himself trying to forget the pain.
"You should go tell Hannah the plan and then send Sam off." Adam states as he tries to get comfortable.
"Will you be alright?"
That makes him chuckle as he looks over at me.
"I think I will but if you don't believe me then hurry back." He grins as he lays his head back on the pillow and closes his eyes. "I won't be going anywhere today."
He was right, I needed to tell Hannah and send Sam out as soon as possible. Bending over him I kiss his forehead and then take my leave from the small house. Hannah was still in the house we were given by Adam and his men with a basket of clothes in hand.
"What in the world happened to you? There is blood on your dress as well as a piece missing." Hannah says pulling me inside and shutting the door.
"Adam was hurt, I think Sylvia knows something is up. Adam told me he knew from a source that Sam and Sylvia are on the same side. We need to test that now-" I barely manage to get out when we hear the back door shut.
Making our way to the back window, both Hannah and I are surprised to see Sam running into the forest at top speed. Hannah looks over at me with a 'What the heck?' look on her face. Shrugging I pull her away from the window.
