Abigail's POV
After finding a way to distract the menfolk, I grabbed Crissy and took her into another room. Lightly shoving her inside she fell the ground and acted as though she was hurt. Keeping her head down she dared to whimper in front of me. She broke the rules and she knew it.
"What in that little blond head of yours made you think it was a good idea to go against protocol?" I question Crissy I shut the door, lock it, and then turn to face her.
"You think you know everything don't your abs? What about love? What about our lives and being able to live them for ourselves. We don't even know what year we were born. Forgive me for wanting a life outside of my job." Crissy says as she slowly stands.
"You picked a hell of a time to want to do it in! Crissy this is wartime! Nothing good will come from staying here and you know it." I try to explain to her but when our eyes meet I know she's not listening.
"Abigail, I am going to tell you something you will never forget. I am the one you've been hunting...I am also the one that will turn over Hannah and uncle unless you do exactly as I say. I know you and the captain have something going on, even if you aren't as willing as he is, marry him stay by his side until I can complete my mission or say goodbye to our friend Hannah and your own life." Crissy smiled as she walked up to me with a deadly look in her eyes.
She wasn't playing around, I didn't know why she would switch side, but it truly felt like I had been betrayed by my own flesh and blood. She watched me carefully as I considered her blackmail. Taking a deep breath, I turn away from her trying to maintain my strength.
"You can't hide from me Abigail, if you don't listen you will be the one hanging from the hangman's rope as well as Hannah." She cackled as she walked up right behind me. "Make your choice ginger."
She knew how bad I hated being called that name. I had no choice though, if I went through with her plan I would spare not only my life but Hannah's as well. She knew I didn't have any other options, still I knew I had to find a way to sneak news to Hannah.
"Fine, you wicked witch, I will go with your plan. However, don't think me a dog and will obey your every word. The minute you think you are safe I promise you I will put a bullet in the back of that head of yours." I threaten her only to have her laugh at me and walk out of the room, pulling me along with her.
The two red coats were still waiting in another room, Crissy took us there and nudged me into the captain's arms. I couldn't decide whether I wanted to refer to him as Captain or Sam at this point. My head and heart were in different reasoning.
"Why not make it a double wedding Colonel? After all we are sisters and we share everything." Crissy spoke confidently to the red coat and grinned at me.
"My dear, Cornwallite may not like having two weddings going on at once but I will see what I can do." The Colonel said as he led Crissy back to their room.
The captain must have been able to sense that I was not in the best of moods and as cautiously approached me. Barely touching my shoulder, I turn and look at him. He had a look of concern and confusion in his eyes. He wasn't aware of Crissy's plan, but I knew I had to do something to at least warn Hannah and let her know who the true betrayer was.
Adam's POV
One Week Later
The men around the camp were growing restless, as to be expected. Many of them were running out of items and would have to ride many days to get the things they needed. Everyone was settled down before a fire as a messenger went into the commander's tent, even though he was not there. Once the man found out he came out of the tent and looked around.
