Chapter Seventeen

Kylie

I wake up to Maxon sleeping on my fold out couch. I take my phone out of his jacket and see that the time read nine o'clock ante meridian. I grab my headphones from my dresser and plug them into my phone. I start watching Vlogbrothers. I start laughing really loud and it wakes up Maxon. I throw my phone across the room and pull out my headphones. I pretend to be asleep. I feel the left side of my bed dip. "Kylie. I know you are awake." Maxon says. I ignore him and turn my back to him. He starts to tickle me. I burst out laughing. "Stop" I say between laughs. He stops and I turn to where I can see him. He leans down and kisses my forehead. He smiles at me and I smile back. "I'm gonna go change" I say getting out of the bed. I run into my closet and put on a pair of sweatpants, Five Seconds of Summer t shirt, and my black Toms. I fish tail braid my hair. I brush my teeth and walk back out to my bedroom. My maids rush in from the door. "Kylie! No no no. You have to wear a dress today." Lucy says. "But why???" I complain. "We have a special occasion today." Mary says looking at Maxon. I shrug. They shove Maxon out the door. Lucy runs to my closet and pulls out an Icy blue dress. Mary grabs a pair of silver heels and Sarah shoves me to my dresser. She pulls my hair up into an elegant bun. They shove me into my dress and I put my shoes on. "What is going on?" I ask them. "We shall not tell, Princess." Sarah says. "Ugh!" I shout in frustration. "That is not how a lady should act." Mary scolds. I get up and run out the door. "Princess Kylie!" I hear Lucy call behind me. I run down the stairs and run into Maxon. We fall to the ground. We sit there and stare into each other's eyes. "Kylie!" Mary shouts running down the stairs. Maxon helps me up and I run. I trip in my heels and kick them off. I run to the underground safety place and lock myself in. I hear banging on the door and I turn to see the other door opening. Standing there was Maxon. "Why are you running?" He asks. "They want to dress me up like a barbie." I say. He chuckles. "Come on" He says with his hand stretched out for me to take it. I take it and we run up the stairs and out the back palace doors. We run out the gates and on to the sidewalk. This is not something you see everyday in England. The Princess running from the palace in hand with a guy. Not something you see everyday. We run till we end up at a park.  "Uh Maxon. I'm at a park in a ball gown." I say " Well, it's fine. Follow me" Maxon says. He leads me to a river hidden by trees. I look back and see a beautiful waterfall. I watch Maxon go behind the waterfall and I follow closely behind. Behind the waterfall was beautiful. The sun was beating down through the waterfall causing a rainbow to shine. "It's beautiful" I say. I look for Maxon and find him on one knee in front of me. I gasp. "Kylie America Wakefield. I've known since I met you that I would marry you. You are my life and my world. I know that love is just a shout into the void and I am in love with you. Will you marry me?" Maxon asks. I tear up and nod yes. He slips the Blue Topaz ring on my finger and stands up. We stand there kissing. We break apart and I shove him into the water. "Here let me help you" I say holding my hand out. "No let me help you" He says and pulls me into the water. "Maxon! My maids are going to kill me!" I shriek. "I'm not going to let that happen" He says. He gets out and helps me up. We run back to the palace dripping wet.

Kylie!" Mary screams and grabs my hand that doesn't have the ring and drags me up to my room. She shoves me into the bathroom and makes me get a shower. I get out and wrap a towel around me. I sneak to my closet without them noticing and grab a blue tank top, blue wrap, black skinny jeans, and combat boots. I put my hair into a fish tail braid and tie a blue ribbon around it. I walk out and my maids rush over to me. "No, I'm not changing." I tell them. They nod. "Kylie, what's that on your finger?" Lucy asks. "Oh nothing" I say. Lucy grabs my hand and looks at my finger. "Maxon proposed didn't he?" She asks. "Yes and you can't tell anyone." I say. They nod. Someone knocks on the door. It was Maxon. "Ladies, can I talk to Kylie in private?" He asks. They nod and rush out the door. He walks over to me and we start kissing. "I don't wanna go to fast." I say. "Don't worry. I've still got my spot on the couch." He says. I smile and he grabs my phone and plugs it up to my radio. He turns on "Beating Heart". He takes my hand and spins me around and we dance the night away.
