Broken Wings

Chapter eight

I stared at Levi for a moment. He doesn't need me.. I'm just a waste if space, why would need me?

"Sir.. with all do respect i doubt you need me at all.." I reply calmly.

"What brought on this?" Eld asks, quietly.

"No one wants me here-" i start to say.

"That's ridiculous!" Gunther says, cutting me off.

"Let me go!" I shout, starting to lean towards the right flank.

"We're going into the forest. Lets go." Levi orders stoically. We all follow until we hear thundering footsteps. Here was my chance to disappear. I feel a hand on mine that snaps me out of my thoughts.

"C-captain.." i try to say, but i wasn't entirely sure what i was supposed to say.

"Hannah. Don't do this." He begs, his grip tightened on my hand.

"I can't keep fighting.." I mutter, through Eren trying to transform, and the rest of the squad begging him to trust them.

"Cover your ears!" Levi shouts, firing a disruptive flare. Soon after the female titan was trapped. "Tie up the horses and get into the trees," he orders, dismounting and getting ready to find Erwin. Before he took off, he glances once more at me, then he was gone.

"You think you're all that Hannah, but you're really not," i hear Petra's voice.

"What makes you say that." I reply.

"You think Levi cares fir you so much but he is just concerned about what you will do to the rest of us." She taunts.

"I don't care.." i murmur, holding back tears.

"Awe is baby gonna cry?" She says in a mocking voice. "Hiding in your hair!" She says grabbing my long hair and cutting it.

"Petra!" Eld shouts, the others looking at what she had done.

"It doesn't matter," i turn and smile at them, my now shorter messy hair still long enough to cover some of my face. "I was already ugly anyway."

A green flare is seen not long after, we start taking off to get out of the forest when a hooded figure catches up.

"Captain Levi..?" Eld starts, before his lines are cut.

"ELD!" I scream, rushing after the figure, before they turn into the female titan.

"YOU'RE DEAD!" I shout.

She killed all of them. Petra. Gunther. Oluo. Only Eren and I remained.

"EREN KEEP GOING! I CAN TAKE HER!" I yell and watch as Eren speeds up. I swing around in front if her, and propel myself forward, stabbing my blades deep into her neck. I feel myself get dragged away bye the cords of my gear, to look into her face.

"Do it. Kill me. I dare you." I say only loud enough for her to hear. He face looked shocked, i'd never seen a titan like that. She throws me into the nearest tree. I fall onto a branch and watch her run after the Eren Titan. I wasn't dead. Everything hurt. How long did i have to wait? If I closed my eyes would I go?

I sat there for a while, looking out at the forest. At the dead. Feeling blood soak my uniform.
I watched as Levi and Mikasa went past. They got Eren and left the forest, later cadets returned to collect the bodies. Two cadets saw me, assuming I was dead, but they left me their, saying something about calling me a traitor to Erwin. So they left. Since I hadn't died yet i figured i should hurry it up by trying to walk home. A titan could finish the job.

I used the only working hook on my gear and stabbed it into the branch, gently lowering myself to the ground. I limped the rest of the way out of the forest only to find the scouts were getting the last of the bodies. I saw Mikasa and heard her talking to the two girls.

"You didn't find her..?" She asked sadly.

"No, she must have run off. What a coward! A traitorous coward!" One said, faking sadness.

"Don't call her a traitor!" Mikasa shouted back.

I walked what little more there was and quietly crawled into a wagon, pulling on a cloak, and wrapping it around me. Hiding the blood and myself.

On the journey home we had to drop the dead due to titans gaining on us. Once we had returned to HQ I returned to my room to fix myself.

I heard the door open soon after i had closed it, voices followed.

"I suppose we should clean this place out.." Eren murmured to Armin and Mikasa.

"She cant have just disappeared.." Mikasa replied.

"Lets just go for now, its too soon," Armin said, leading them both away and closing the door.

I had cleaned the blood off of me, and had started bandaging my midsection when someone else entered slamming the door open.

"Erwin she cant have just-!" The voice of Levi started to say angrily until he looked up and saw me.

"Levi whats-" Erwin started, but stopping at the sight of me as well. Luckily i had already wrapped the top half of my torso.

"Hannah?!"
