Broken Wings

Chapter fifteen

This was not happiness. It was fear. I was stupid to think that it would be okay, that being with Levi would make it okay. I pushed him away from me.

"Captain.. this is unlawful.." i murmur, keeping my voice monotone.

"Whats wrong Hannah?" He whispered, attempting to step closer to me.

"Im only a cadet, this cant happen.. it makes you as bad as Erwin.." i reply, walking around him to the door.

"Hannah.. Erwin is trying to force things on you that you don't want," he says, placing a hand on the door.

"Sir-" i try to say, but he cuts me off.

"Don't call me that.."

"Captain for all you know i could be so much younger than you.. you're my higher up, my captain.." i couldn't look in his eyes, this voice in my head kept telling me I wasn't good enough and I didn't deserve him, i had to keep making excuses to get out.

"Let me fix it.." he said, reaching for my hand on the door knob.

"No.. you need to understand that it cannot be fixed," i replied quietly.

"Hannah.. what is making you think like this..?" He questioned, desperately looking for a way to help me, to fix whatever was wrong.

"Don't call me Hannah.. from this point on our relationship is that of a cadet and a captain. Nothing else." I said it but i had a hard time believing it. He let his hand fall from the door, allowing me to open it. I walked into the hall and closed the door behind me, i heard him slide down it on the other side. I leaned against the door, my hand on it's handle wishing to go back. But the damage was done.

The weekend came and we were given two free days to prepare to take Eren back to wall sina and the court house. His close friends and the squad leaders were helping to make a plan to save him from it. At this point i felt all our attempts would be hopeless.

I walked out in a knee length black dress with my survey corps cloak wrapped tightly around me in the cold morning air. I walked the forest for hours, wishing i was outside the walls, wondering what the people we lost on the expedition were doing now.

I don't know how far i had walked before i saw someone else, well.. more heard someone else singing something I recognized..
