me and my mom watched fireworks and ate cupcakes with your parents today. it didn’t feel the same without you.

but the fireworks made me think of you in a way. how you were so bright and beautiful and then poof, you’re gone. only smoke remains and that, too, eventually drifts away.

                please don’t drift away.
