you never showed up. school felt strange. they have your pictures on the wall with ‘missing’ in big, bold print. i wanted nothing more than to tear it down and say you were here. i felt like crying.
i also sat at our table we eat at during lunch.
i was the only one there. i kept looking at your seat, until a girl with brunette hair and green eyes came up to me, and asked if i wanted to sit with her and her friends.
you always encouraged me to have more friends. you wouldn’t have been proud of me when i refused.
but the weirdest thing happened next, she made her friends come over to me.
we ate together in silence.
her name was jasmine. she didn’t even ask about you.
and it made me miss you so much more.
