Chapter Fifteen
The violet sky before me seemed to be even more beautiful than ever, as if that was even possible. Sighing in contempt, I look up at Greyson who I find looking down at me with smile plastered on his flawless face. Giggling, I question him, "What are you looking at?" He shrugs and answers, "Just you, you're so beautiful." I laugh like a small child, oh what he does to me.
We have been together for two weeks now, and it has been the best of my life. My parents instantly approved as did his, of course, his sister was apprehensive, being over protective as she is but other than that, everyone's been completely fine with it. We've gone on a couple of dates, if a picnic on the cliffs near the shore counts. Honestly, I've never been this happy with anyone, but I couldn't truly tell you of I loved him. I didn't want to move that fast frankly.
I smile in return and kiss his cheek lightly, "And you are the sweetest thing ever." His face turns a crimson red and he laughs brushing a strand of my auburn hair behind my ear. "I'm only myself because of you. Youre everything to me" He whispers lightly, his face shining in the light of the setting sun.
I didn't know how to respond to that. Of course, he was my whole world, well, second in my world. How could I explain that to him without it hurting him? He would understand about Emma, wouldn't he? Yeah, he had to, he was Greyson. Greyson, was always logical. "Greyson..." I begin, full of courage. As soon as he responds the courage dissipates.
"Uh... Nothing." I reply flatly. Confusion appears on his face and he just shakes his head. "Whatever, tell me what you want to say when you wanna' but before you do..." He smirks as he stands up, throwing me over his shoulder
And racing into the waves. The current batters my face as I laugh in delight, begging him to stop when we both know I didn't want him to.
Greyson wades into the water and I see him stiffen up from the chill. "Cold cold cold cold cold!!!" Greyson squeals and races out of the water. I burst into fits of laughter, still in my uncomfortable position, and begin to feel pain shooting up my sides from the chortles. "Oh you think that's funny huh?" Greyson questions.
"Not funny, hilarious."
"Oh, then you'll think this is the funniest thing ever."
Before I can even question him he uses all his strength and tosses me into the water. The intensified chill freezes me to the bone and I shout, "Greyson Michael Chance!" He just laughs as I drag myself out of the water and shake my soaking hair. "I'm gonna kill you!" I joke lightly. He just smirks and adds, "You know you love me." I knew he was just joking, but even then I couldn't find myself to agree.
I cared about Greyson so much, he was more than my boyfriend, he was my best friend. But when you love someone you can tell and do anything for them without it even concerning you. How could I say I did love him if he didn't know about why I sing, about Emma? That's when I decided what I was going to do. Many girls would give up much more than I would to show their love to a boy but I wasn't ready for that, this would mean much more to him.
"Greyson, can you come with me?" I ask as I grab his hand and race down the beach with him to my room. Swiftly, I grab my guitar and a light jacket, the water had seeped into my bones. Once I return with the guitar I drag him back down to the dock and plop down. "Wait, are you gonna sing? Drew, you don't have to." I shake my head in retaliation and take a deep breath. "I want to, you're my boyfriend, you mean so much to me. You deserve this much." Greyson gets quiet and I begin to sing one of my favorite songs.
I'm gonna pick up these pieces,
And build a Lego house.
If things go wrong we can knock it down.
