The meeting continued, with everyone working out where the Precepts would be. Rock Lock suggested that since we had a direct encounter with Eri, the Precepts would move in hopes of staying hidden.
Nighteye announced that he would like everyone's assistance in identifying the Precepts' location. Several agents recommended different scenarios on how to carry this out, but no one could agree. Then Shouta spoke up, asking Nighteye to use his Foresight.
Nighteye said he couldn't. He explained how his Quirk worked. But then he mentioned seeing someone's future before, and how a gruesome, merciless death was imminent for that person. Nighteye then denied looking through anyone else's future.
"Locating the girl and securing her rescue. Our goal is to resolve the situation as quickly and effectively as possible. Thank you all for your cooperation." Nighteye concluded the meeting and everyone left the room.
I went off and sat on a couch, thinking of the mental storm brewing in my head. I had to save Eri. I have to make sure she's okay. But thinking about the whole ordeal just made my heart break all over again.
"I couldn't save her..."
"What are you doing all gloomy over there?"
I noticed Shouta sit beside me and look at me. "How are you holding up? It can't have been easy, hearing news like that."
"Yeah, it weighs down on my heart. She's had to go through all that pain of being used, no one is there to show her love, Shouta, what...what can I do?" I ranted. "I have to save her, but after I let her go like that? I can't..."
Shouta wrapped his arm around me and pulled me towards him. "Don't worry. You'll save her, you've saved people before. I know you won't fail her again."
I look at Shouta, and he looks back at me with eyes reassuring me that it'll be okay. "Heh, what's gotten into you? You're usually not this...emotional, feely-feely, doki-doki, type of person." I smirked, seeing Shouta cringe slightly.
"Well, we can't have you in such a dismal mental state. And I've seen you go through this before." Shouta replied.
"Okay, thanks again Shouta." I thanked, smiling at him warmly. I took Shouta's hand and pulled him off the couch as I got up. "We should go see Izuku and Mirio, I'm sure they're feeling bad as much as me."
We took the elevator and arrived at the bottom floor of the office, and we saw Izuku, Mirio, Ochako, Tsuyu, Kirishima, Nejire, and Tamaki sit around a table like they were holding a wake.
"Are you guys holding a wake or something?" Shouta asked.
See?
"Sensei?" Tsuyu questioned.
"Ah, just call me Eraserhead outside of class," Shouta said.
"Just call me whatever," I added.
"Oh, however...I had originally planned to suspend all of your internships today." Shouta continued.
"What?! Why now of all times!?" Kirishima yelled.
"You all heard that there's a possibility that the League is involved. That changes things. But you know...Midoriya...you still haven't restored my trust in you yet." Shouta explained, bending down to face Midoriya sitting. "Unfortunately, I have every reason to believe that if I were to stop you right now...You'd just jump out in the midst of things again. I'm watching you. If you act again, we'll go by the formal procedures this time around, Midoriya."
He put his fist over Izuku's heart and asked, "Got it, problem child?"
I grinned, knowing that Shouta took his silence as proof of his conviction to do things right.
