"Sounds like you had a great date."
You looked over at Erika, smiling shyly as you nodded. The two of you were sitting at a table in a small cafe. Erika was sitting across from you, one elbow propped up on the table holding her chin while her other arm laid flat against the table.
"It was sweet, don't you think? I mean, he said he was going to do it but I didn't think he would actually go through all that work. It took him a little more than a week since he bought flowers already grown to stick in the holes. But he still had to dig the holes, organize the flower bed, water the flowers, all that crap, y'know? I think it's wonderful," you said.
"So he's like, what, your Prince Charming now?" Erika asked.
"He always was."
"I think I'm gonna barf."
You reached over and smacked her arm that was on the table. She winked at you and stuck out her tongue playfully.
"Enough about me, let's talk about you now. I haven't seen you for a few days, not since my date. How did the game store visit go?" you asked.
Erika's smile faltered for a moment and she shifted to fold her hands together on the table. "Right, I guess I should talk about that now."
"Um, hell yeah. I told you about my date, now you tell me about yours."
"It wasn't a date, I was just going to return the game." Erika smiled gently and you had a feeling you knew who she was going to talk about. "I ran into one of Jungkook's friends. Yoongi? He's pretty hot. Although he didn't say much, I felt a connection. I really want to talk to him again."
"What'd he say?" you questioned.
"Well, he asked me why I was—" Erika paused for a moment, her expression unreadable. She continued in an uncertain voice, "W-Why I was the one returning the game."
You cocked an eyebrow at her suspicious behaviour. "Are you sure that's what he asked?"
"Yeah," she replied, but something in her eyes told you she wasn't telling the truth. At least not all of it. "We chatted for a bit afterwards, with me doing most of the talking. I was trying to get to know him but I think he just found me creepy so he wasn't really opening up to me."
"Sometimes you come off a little strong. From what I've heard and seen, he isn't much of a talker," you said.
"Yeah, I can believe that," Erika mumbled, slumping forward to rest her head on the table. She stayed in that position for a second before sitting up straight, suddenly looking determined. "But I'm going to force that man to open his heart! I'm not giving up yet!"
"If it doesn't work out, don't let it get you down. You'll find someone eventually," you encouraged.
Erika gave you a thumbs up before her expression slowly began to fall, becoming more serious by the second. She leaned forward in her seat, as if she was going to tell a secret, and you leaned forward instinctively.
"If something bad ever happens with Jungkook...you'll tell me right?" she asked. You furrowed your brows in confusion. Where was this coming from?
"Erika, I'm—"
"You trust me, right? You'd tell me if something happened, if he hurt you or whatever, right?" she continued.
You were suddenly getting flashbacks to the time in the game store with Yoongi. Where he threatened to kick your ass if you ever broke Jungkook's heart. At least there's one thing these two have in common.
"Of course, you're my best friend," you replied. Erika smiled and looked satisfied. "Why are you asking me this suddenly?"
"Just gotta make sure you know you can trust me. I'm here for you, (Y/n)."
