None of what Gemma said came true that summer. Lillian stuck with Edward. They never came over to hang out at our house anymore. Gemma never really called. I wish she never went to Uni early. I wish she stayed with me this summer, she was the only one who understood me. I missed her.I couldn't spend my summer being depressed again. I had to get out, get away from everything that was bothering my thoughts. I had to get out of the house. I had to get out of town. So I simply went back home.
I couldn't go back to our old house. Someone else was living there. I pased my childhood home and countinued to drive down the street in Gemma's car. I stopped at the giant house at the end. I climbed out of the car, running a hand through my hair and then grabbing my bag fromthe back trunk. I set down the bag on the front. I fixed my glasses one last time and knocked on the door that was once so fimiliar.
The wooden door creaked open a pair over blue eyes looked into mine through the small gap,
"Harry?" the voice questioned.
"Hi Kat."I said, my voice raspy. I wasn't surprised Kat was in shock I had come. I had promised to text and call her after I had moved. My mind was so occupied with Lillian and Edward that I couldn't even send a couple texts to my childhood bestfriend.
"What are you doing here?" the girl asks, opening up the door just a little more.
"Look Kat, I know I didn't really text you like I promised. I'm sorry, it's okay if you're mad at me for it. I just need to get out of that town and I thought about how much I missed hanging out with you." I start to say but she cuts me off.
"Harry. You can stay as long as you would like, I'm sure mum wouldn't mind. If you every need to get away from home or Edward, just come. I know how Edward is. Remember that time he was visiting from your dad's and he pouredd juice on my head?" she chuckles, flashing me her white smile. Kat helps guides me to her room, her red hair brushing her shoulders as she walks. "So what did little Eddie do this time?"
"How did you know?"
"Harry, I've know you since kindergarnden. I knew it was an Edward problem the second i saw you at the door."
"Oh, well it's a long story." I mumble.
"We've got time."
"Ugh well.. So there's this girl. We met the.."
"A GIRL! Harry you like a girl!" She bursts out laughing.
"Hey!" I chucle along with her, remembering the conversation we had in 9th grade about weather or not I was gay. She had gathered evidence that I was so I said whatever and I guess she thought I was. "Getting BACK to the story. We met on the first day, her names Lillian Peters. I'm friends with her friends, which are not all girls, like your friends. I devolped a crush on her, thats that. Gemma being the geinus she is, decided it would be a ggood idea for Edward and I to pull a Parent Trap and switch places. Well, while I was Edward I found out Lillian, the one I though was trustworthy, was secretly dating Edward." I take a breath after letting it all out. I felt like a ton had been lifted off my shoulders, I had never told anyone else about this.
"Wow that's rough." Kat adds in.
"Well it's complicated, but we went on this field trip. Edward didn't go. Lillian confessed she broke up with Edward because he was Pushy? At the end of the trip I was going to ask her out, but Edward picked her up and made it look like they have never fought before. Now Gemma's off at Uni and I'm stuck alone." I whine. I probably sound like a baby, but I just needed to talk.
"Maybe you and this girl aren't meant to be. She's meant to be with Edward." Kat explains, running her fingers through her short hair.
"I don't know, the situation is weird." I sign, letting go of the topic. "So how was your year?"
"Good. Derek asked me to the junior prom, but nothing really happened." She grins. Kat had had a crush on this kid Derek since I could remember.
"Anyways, I'm hungry wanna go out to eat? My parents are working late, it's Tuesday."
"I would love to."
" okay then let high tail it out of here."
And the rest of the summer was spent with Kat. It was a good breather and mum was obviously happy since I got out if the house. Kat loved to talk, so we spent every night confessing things that we wouldn't tell anyone else. It was good to let someone know about Lillian. If I kept it balled up inside if would have exploded. In other words the Summer was okay.
