Unexpected Journey (Gary x Reader) PART 1

I'm (y/n) Ketchum, and I've been on my Pokemon journey for quite a while now! I've met so many Pokemon that I haven't ever seen before! I now have a full team of six, and I'm planning on entering for the indigo league! I already have 7 badges! All I need is is that last badge, the earth badge! Though for some reason...someone doesn't want to go back to Viridian city.

That person was Gary Oak.

You've been traveling with him ever since you started your journey! Mostly because your mom was scared of letting you go out on your own. You were forced to travel with someone, and that someone had to be Gary. You didn't really mind. But your brother, Ash mined. Since Ash was Gary's biggest rival. But he was always really nice to you and protected you from any harm. I guess that's why mom wanted me to go with Gary. But when he got mad, he would sometimes call me a loser, but it never got to me...okay maybe sometimes. But still, I understand that he's mad but anyways...

As soon as we got our 7th gym badge, I told him that our next stop was Viridian city! But for some reason, he seemed uneasy that we were going there. I was concerned so I asked him, " Hey Gary..." he turned his head to me a bit slowly. "Y-yeah...?" He stuttered, I never heard him stutter, so this was a first. "Are you okay...? You seem a bit stressed that were going to Viridian city." I asked. He gulped a little trying not to show that he was really nervous. "Well...you see, someone's there, t-that I really don't want to s-see..." he turned his head away to the floor, still nervous as ever.

I was thinking of who this person could be...maybe some past friend he knew? Or maybe another rival! I'm not sure but I let my curiosity get the better of me. "If I may ask...who is this person...?" he then stops dead in his tracks. I look over to him confused. He started to mumble something I couldn't really hear. "What?" I ask leaning my head towards him. He mumbled a bit louder, but I still couldn't hear. I asked again, "Sorry, what was that...?" He started to get a bit mad, and he shouted, "It's a family member okay?! Loser..." I took a little step back, I was not expecting that. He sighed. "Sorry (y/n), it's just...nevermind." He started walking again a bit aggravated he looked at the ground while he walked. I sighed and started walking towards him. We were silent for the rest of the walk.

Viridian city was not too far so we were actually almost there but it was getting a bit dark, so we started to pick up the pace to find a near Pokemon Center we could stay at. I saw a sign up ahead. "Hey look, over there!" I shouted. I pointed to where the sign was. Gary and I exchanged glances, before running towards it. We stopped at the sign to read what it says, "Welcome to Viridian City!" Gary looked shocked, but then quickly came back to his senses, so he doesn't look like a wimp in front of (y/n).

Honestly, Gary kinda had a little crush on you but he'd always hide it. (y/n) was completely oblivious to Gary's feelings, she never thought of him that way.

"Oh hey! It's Viridian city!" (y/n) said excitedly. She was finally at her location! She grabbed Gary's hand and ran with him to the Pokemon Center to see if they can have somewhere to sleep. "Whoa! (y/n), slow down!" Gary said, trying to hang on to the (h/c) haired girl. They made it to the entrance of the Pokemon Center, only to be greeted by a lovely Nurse Joy! "Hello! Welcome to the Pokemon Center!" the nurse said happily! Nurse Joy realized that (y/n) was holding Gary's hand, so she giggled. "Aww, how cute, Young love!"

They both stare at her confused, but then (y/n) realized she was still holding Gary's hand! She looked at their hands interlocking with Gary's, she then looked up at Gary. They both stared at each other for a good 30 seconds, before they separated their hands and blushed. Gary then said, "Uh...were not in a...relationship..." (y/n) nodded slowly still blushing. "Oh! Oops, my bad then! Well, what can I help you with anyway?"

Gary was blushing also, but not as bad as (y/n) was! He was surprised you could even blush that deep of a red! Gary felt a little excitement in his chest. He looked up at Nurse Joy and walked over to her to tell her what they were looking for. "Well, we're looking for a place to sleep, do you have any free rooms...?" Gary asked the nurse. She nodded. "Yup, we have one more room left! It's down that hallway! Chansey will take you two there!" She pointed to the hallway and looked at Chansey, signaling it to take both Gary and (y/n) to their room.

"Chansey!!" the Chansey cried, walking to the room. (y/n) and Gary followed the Chansey. They arrived at their room. "Chan, Chansey!!" The Chansey cried out, signaling that were at our location. (y/n) waved 'bye' to the Pokemon and then they both headed inside their room.

(y/n) POV

I was still a bit flustered about that situation that happened earlier, but it only got worse when we entered the room! The room was pretty small, and just had a bed and a bathroom, that was pretty much it. Not two beds, no, ONE BED! There was no room for someone to sleep on the floor, so we just had to sleep in the same bed. Yikes! I was blushing even more than I was before! Oh no! What am I gonna do...?

I heard Gary chuckle and I turned my head towards him. "Guess we'll be sharing a bed..." My blush was turning into a really deep red. I was trying to stop, but I couldn't! Darn it (y/n) why do you have to be this way!! I thought as I didn't seem to notice that Gary was staring at me!

Gary's POV

"Guess we'll be sharing a bed..." I said, then I put my backpack on the nightstand. I then started looking at (y/n), who was blushing like crazy! I didn't know she could blush that deep!

"Uh...are you okay (y/n)...?" I asked. She jumped at my voice and looked at me, sweating a little. "H-Huh...? Oh! Y-yeah, I'm fine Gary!" She said, nervously. I shrugged it off. Though my chest felt even more excited...I'm not sure why my heart is beating so fast. But I clear my thoughts.

"Okay then...well I'm gonna go take a shower, later." I said, grabbing my clothes from my backpack and heading into the bathroom.

But then I heard a little squeal. I turned around slightly. I saw (y/n) covering her face with her hands. I chuckle at that! Then I just went inside of the bathroom.

(Y/N) POV

After Gary had said that, I couldn't help but squeal. I don't know what's happening in my head for me to do this! I then quickly covered my face with my hands, that was just too embarrassing!!, I thought. I then heard a little chuckle, a door opening, and closing.

I then slowly took my hands off my face and saw he was gone. Phew! I thought. That was weird...I then start to feel my cheeks heating up again at the thought of Gary in the shower. Arceus, (y/n)! Stop thinking such things!!
I shake my head, trying to forget the image that was in my mind. I suddenly felt tired. I started to lay down as my eyes slowly drifted off to sleep.

Gary's POV

I came out of the shower and got dressed for the night. As soon as I opened the door, I was greeted by (y/n) sleeping soundly on the bed.
I start to blush, but then quickly shook my head to forget about my thoughts.

I realized that she didn't even get ready for bed. She still had her backpack on, and her normal clothes! But I brushed it off. I tried to take her backpack off and was successful, I put it next to mine. I then looked at her for a moment, admiring her features. I sigh. Yeah right...she'll never like someone like me...whatever. I thought. Then I laid down next to her, but my back was opposite to hers. I stare at the walls. Thinking about tomorrow and how I had to see...
