Unexpected Journey (Gary x Reader) PART 2

It was about to be 6:00 AM. The sun slowly rising. (y/n) woke up after a good night sleep, but she wasn't ready to get out of bed, just yet. She felt something on her back. She turned to see it was Gary, peacefully sleeping. (y/n) blushed a little. She was excited because today would be the day that you finally get your last gym badge! Though you wouldn't know how Gary would feel if you'd just went on your own. So you decided to stay in bed with him until he woke up.

Wasn't too long before he had woke up. It was currently, 6:39, in the morning. The two of you decided to get breakfast first, do some other things, like, looking around the area! Or visiting your mom and Ash! But you were hoping that he wasn't stalling for our gym match!

(Y/N) POV
I got up from the bed and went to shower since I didn't yesterday night. Gary was awake, but he was still pretty tired. I walked up to him before you took a shower. "Hey, Gary...?" He looked up at me, kinda sweating. I saw that as my eyes widen, but immediately went back to what I was gonna say, "You gonna be okay? You seem worried still..." He looked back at the floor, his hair covering his eyes. "Gary...?" I asked. He sighed, "Yeah, I'll be fine (Y/N), but we should get food first. It is only 6 in the morning." He had a point, I nodded and went to take a shower.

Gary's POV
(Y/N) had gone to take a shower, I was left with my thoughts. I didn't want to see him. He was always rude to me, maybe that's why I was always a jerk to Ash, I didn't mean anything I said bad to him, I was just angry, that's all. But, I know that's still no excuse. Whatever, at least (Y/N) and I can do stuff before the time comes to see him. Let's just hope he doesn't ruin anything. I got up from the bed and got ready for the day. I fixed my hair because it was a mess! After I got myself situated, (Y/N) came out of the shower, she has already put her trainer clothes for the day. "You ready to go and get something to eat?" I asked for her confirmation. She nodded and we got our bags and left the room.

(Y/N) POV
Gary and I went to go and eat, as we were eating, he would always dodge any question that had to do something with the Veridian Gym. He always said it's not important when it kinda was, at least to me! Me and him were about to get our last badge! How is that not at least exciting? After that, we decided to look around the city. Gary knew his way around this city, I was pretty surprised but it was probably because one of his relatives lives here.

It was time, time to take on the gym leader! We practically did everything we could in town, so our next and final option, is the gym. I told Gary it was time, but he insisted that we should look around some more. But I stopped him, "Gary, stop it. I know what you're trying to do, you're stalling, just so we don't have to go to the gym. Well, you know what, Gary? If you won't go with me, I'll go on my own to that stickn' gym!" He just stood there, not knowing what to say, or do. I turned my back and started walking to the gym. What was so bad about that gym?! I thought. I eventually arrived at the front of the gym. I looked at the clear door and saw trainers, but not the gym leader, I'm pretty sure they're at the front, and I couldn't see that far. I took a deep breath and walked into the gym.

Gary's POV
(Y/N) left me...she went to that gym. Why do you do this to yourself, Gary? I have to go to that gym, I don't want her to get hurt, besides I need that badge too. I started walking towards the gym and made it. I could see (Y/N) taking on one of the last trainers. I had to get in there. My hair covered my eyes as went inside. One of the people recognized me. "Oh, are you Gary Oak?" I nodded 'yes'. "Would you like to see your brother, Green? He's in the front if the gym!" I froze when they said, his name. I shook my head, 'no' and they understood and let me be. Even the trainers didn't say anything, they just let me pass them with ease. It was flattering but, I wanted to battle them too. But on the bright side, it did let me get to (Y/N) much quicker. But I saw her, with him. She was talking to him about, me?

(Y/N) POV
I finally made it, to the gym leader! He looked awfully like someone, like, Gary! Is this his brother?! They look exactly alike, except he has orange hair! And a bit older. I was stunned that this was the gym leader, but either way, I went up to him. He looked down at me, I got nervous. But tried to keep calm, "Uh...hi! I'm (Y/N) Ketchum, from pallet town! And I, uh...wish to, battle, well, you!" He still looked at me with those intimidating eyes, like he was skeptical of me. Hey! I should ask him about Gary! "Hey, do you happen to know a guy, named Gary?" His eyes widen, and he actually smiled! "Oh, you know my boy, Gary? Is he like, your boyfriend or something?" He whispered that last sentence to me. "What?! No! We're only friends! We've been traveling for a while now, actually. But ever since we came back here, he's been worried, or scared. I think it's about you." He seemed confused, "What? Why would Gary be afraid of me? I'm his brother!" I agreed with him on that. Then I heard someone shout out my name, "(Y/N)!!" I look behind me to see, Gary?! What is he doing here? I thought he didn't want to be at this gym! "Oh hey, Gary! Long time no see!" The gym leader greeted him. Gary looked like he was having none of it, " Ugh, leave me alone, Green! (Y/N), come on, let's get out of here!" What?! Why would he say that? There's nothing wrong with the gym leader, or, Green. "Ugh, no Gary! After all that work getting up here, I'm not just gonna leave! Your brother isn't even that bad! I don't know why you keep saying he's this, 'really mean, and bad guy', he's not!" "(Y/N) you don't understand! He'll destroy you like he did to me!" Gary shouted panting. I could see a tear down his cheeks. That's when I knew this was serious. Green must've done something so bad. I turned to Green, "Green, what did you do to him?" He didn't know himself, he sighed and replies, "Why don't we go to my office, it's over here." He then starts walking towards his office and I grab Gary's hand and follow Green.

Gary's POV
I couldn't hold back on my tears any longer, I didn't want to look like a baby in front of (Y/N), and especially Green. When we arrived at his office, he told us to sit on the chairs he had. Once we sat, he started, "Ok now that we are in my office away from those trainers and the staff, GARY WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?! I missed you so much, little bro!" He gave me a bear hug, but I knew he was acting like that because (Y/N) was here. "Get off me! And stop acting all nice, I know you're just acting like that because she's here!" I shouted at him. Then he grabbed my shoulders and got close to my ear, "Gary, your friend is kinda cute y'know, you really got lucky." My face got red when he said that. I did like her but does he like her as well? I hope not...
Then he backed off, "We'll anyway, ahem, so Gary, mind telling me what I did so wrong?" I can't believe he's this oblivious, "Well, you were always rude to me! When I was little, and even now, as I said, you're just acting nice. You would always put me down, and absolutely destroy my Pokemon in a battle! And even put them down sometimes too! That's why (Y/N)-" I turn to her, and she turns to me with her, shining (E/C) eyes. "I didn't want you to battle him, because if you lose, he'll put you down and make you feel like you're nothing!" Her eyes widen like she realized something. She turned to Green, "Is...is this true Green?" She asked he put his hand behind his head, "Eh, well kinda...but Gary, I only did that so you could get stronger! I didn't seriously mean it in a bad way! And I was only rude because that was when me and your sister were trying to cope with Mom and Dad being dead! You were only like, 5 when it happened...I'm sorry I was rude to you, really I am." When he said that, I had an epiphany. Why? Why is he telling me now?! I, I don't even know what to say! I feel so bad now! "Green, I'm...so sorry...I feel like such an idiot! But why didn't you tell me sooner?" He shrugged his shoulders, "I'm not sure why, I guess I just forgot." Both me and Green turned to (Y/N), she was still in shock. "I'm sorry your guy's parents died. I had no idea!" She then gave me a hug, "I'm so sorry Gary!" I hugged back and blushed. "Aww, young love!" Green said. We both froze, our faces were really red. We broke the hug and laughed nervously, but I noticed (Y/N) was holding my hand! But I didn't mind.

Wow. (Y/N) won! She won her last badge! "Yes! We did it Raichu!" She said to her Raichu. Unlike her brother, Ash, she evolved her Pikachu. I was impressed she could win against my brother, he always beat me, but now that I have a full team of six, I could definitely see myself winning! Green gave her the Earth badge and she put it in her badge case, where she kept all her badges. "(Y/N) you did it!" I said, congratulating her. She then hugged me outta nowhere, "It's all thanks to you, Gary, that I won! Not only me and Raichu! So, I thank you for that." I hugged back, "No problem, (Y/N). Now..." I broke the hug and went in front of my brother, "Time for me to battle you, Green!"
