This is mostly bromance kidge with a small sprinkle of klance.

Pidge rubbed her eyes, trying to stifle a yawn as she stared at the a little-too-bright screen of her holo-computer. Well, now she didn't stay up till sunrise because finally she had less of a weight on her shoulders, matt was back and the loud snores she just heared passing by his room proved that this wasn't a dream or a hallucination from the lack of sleep.

Pidge wasn't paying all the attention to whatever she was working on, so when she caught a figure sneaking around and recognized the mullet in a millisecond-she was somehow suprised-pidge never caught keith wandering around at 3 AM before. And she had to admit, she was kind of curious about the reason that motivated a half galra to get out of his room at this time of....almost...morning?

She watched quietly as the taller male made a bee line for the couch, plopped down on it as quiet as possible and pulled out a holographic sheet.
Pidge closed the lid of the laptop and went over to the couch, sitting down next to the older male. she really wanted to know why keith was staring at the holographic piece as if hw wanted to focus just on that and ONLY that, wanting to brush off some inner demons with concentrating on something else.

"What are you doing here, pidge?" Keith's voice snapped her out of her thoughts and she almost jumped, the guy didn't even lift his eyes off the paper. Pidge guessed it was because of those instincts that keith kinda knew pidge was there.

"Research." Pidge stated simply and keith raised a brow, he was listening even though his eyes were trailing every sentence with grace.

"You should get some sleep." Those words somehow suprised the sassy genuis, she always thought all keith could care about was knives and missions...and his boyfriend(not that he'd admit it). But looked like he had a heart of silver, but disguised it with dust.

"So do you." Keith tched and pidge noticed how his fingers clenched themselves around the paper.

"I haven't slept for 6 days." Keith murmured, making pidge sigh in exasperation.

"So, why are you not getting that beauty sleep?"

"Reasons." Pidge could guess what made a tough guy don't want to sleep for days, she caught lance throwing concsrned looks at his way when the other wasn't looking, and may i add, lance's room was right next to keith's, actually the only room in that hallway, and pidge could bet on her electronics that if keith'd scream, the only one who'd hear him would probably be lance. That could be a solid reason because lance'd always look at keith with disinterest and disdain, which keith would gladly glare back with the same emotions.

But now that things changed, and keith and lance were way closer than before....if lance was worried about him, there was something going on.

"Molly laughed with her lips flat. And what good is it to me that you're not here now?" Keith started to read it outloud and pidge leaned against the couch, trying to get as comfortable as possible. It's been a while since someone read something for her so she listened quietly, sometimes glancing at the bright blue screen.

"Where were you twenty years ago, ten years ago? How dare you, how dare you come to me when i am this?"

And that was how pidge ended up falling asleep and waking up in her room. That night she went to the living room too, and keith joined her to be all night owl bros together. Keith'd bring his book with him and read it for pidge until she'd fall asleep, then he'd drag her to her room so she could rest properly.

They both got used to that soon and it's been weeks, that they had this secret night owls' story time.
Until one day, keith was way paler than usual and with one look you could tell he wasn't ok. Pidge could sense that this wasn't just a normal flu, but for the first time she pushed that thought away.
It was few hours later, when hunk found keith on the kitchen floor with blood gushing out of his mouth. They put keith into a healing pod imidiately, and it seemed like he wasn't getting out anytime soon.

That night, hunk and shiro had to drag the blue paladin away so he could get some sleep, which resulted in lance growling in spanish and trying to break free from their grasp, but it was all useless because those two managed to take him to his room.

While all of that, coran and allura went to their own rooms, leaving the green and a comatose red paladin alone in the room. Pidge sat at the opposite side of cryopod, her back facing keith as she pulled out a holo-sheet and started reading,

"Quests may not simply be abondoned; prophecies may not be left to rot like unpicked fruit; unicorns may go unrescued for a very long time, but not forever. The happy ending cannot come in the middle of the story."

She paused, glancing at the injured male with a weak smile. Pidge knew she could drag the guy out of the pod and keith'd be a blushing mess with his husband again.

What could she say, books can heal the pain.
