"Lance..." keith whispered, his eyes filled with concern and the trail of dried tears shining on his cheeks as he kept his gaze trained on the cuban beside him, who had his had hung down, fists clenched so hard his fingernails dug themselves in his palms. That would leave a mark.

"What's...wrong with you?" keith slid his hand on lance's shoulder, soon to snap away when lance flinched back. To say keith was worried about the other was an understatement, lance was acting strange, stranger than he usually did. From strange keith meant he didn't see him smile even once that day, didn't crack any jokes, no horrible puns either. He didn't even touch his food.

Lance stared at keith for a moment, and keith managed to read that as a....longing look? He wanted to laugh, did having a horrible sleeping schedule which would end up with him having just a few minutes rest for the night finally took it's toll by affecting his observing skills?

Keith looked again, the way lance's lips were pulled into a tight line, that gaze- keith could almost see the emotions fighting for dominance in that deepest shades of blue, and seemed like keith wasn't wrong, longing was the winner. So keith did the stupidest thing that reached to his mind, maybe if it was hunk instead of keith it wouldn't seem that stupid but oh well. Since when keith did logical stuff?
Yeah since slav got brave-oh yeah,Never(haha, BURN).

He put a gentle hand on lance's wrist, guiding his head to his lap. Much to keith's suprise, lance stayed there, keeping his blank stare on the wall in front of him.

A small sigh escaped keith's lips and he started stroking the short, chestnut locks, not noticing the way lance sighed in content, pushing his head to keith's hand.

"I can't push you to tell me what's wrong..." keith paused, looking down at the cuban with an affectionate glint on his eyes.

"But i'll listen..whenever you wanted to talk and stuff, ok?" Lance hummed, clenching his eyes shut and listened to keith's slow breathing, a small lullaby and a proof that he wasn't alone. Yet.
His curled up frame started to tremble and lance couldn't help but take a sharp inhale of breath, desprate to keep it down. Hide behind that dam, bury those feelings in the deepest part of his heart so he wouldn't even remember, forgotten like an old scar. Until something would happen and rip the scar open, leaving him weak and vulnurable all over again.

It was painful to watch the happy-go-lucky lance end up like this, struggling to stay strong while keith could just see he couldn't anymore.

Out of nowhere some different colours came into view, a warm hand between his dark locks and now he was the one lying on someone's lap, the sweet scent of freshly baked bread and coffee filling his nose. A soft, feminine voice started to sing, melodic and calming, and even though keith couldn't see her face, he knew who she was.
So when his vision came back to the current state they were, him being the rock lance leaned on, he started to sing with the woman on his head, voice rough at first from lack of use, but then, turned into something close to her voice.
His mother's.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are gray..." keith paused, trying to recall the next lyrics and a distant look etched on his features, a bitter smile forming on his lips.

"You never know dear, how much i love you
Please don't take-my sunshine away..." lance stopped shaking, his breaths evened out and small snores escaping from his lips.

The bitter smile formed into a fond one and keith leaned down, pressing a small kiss against lance's forehead.

"Sleep tight, mcclain." Lance opened one eye to peek up at the other male, a soft smile curling up his lips.

"I'm not the only mcclain here, you know that right, mcclain?" Keith chuckled, his eyes drifting to the silver band sitting on his finger for a spilt second. He pecked lance's nose, letting his head rest on lance's for a moment, clenching his eyes shut, cherishing the moment as if he'd die if he didn't.

"Yeah."
