Keith let out a breath, staring down at the piece of paper in his hand, grip gentle, careful as if he expected the paper to break at any moment. No one could blame him for that though, that single piece of paper managed to look ancient, maybe it had existed since forever.

Two pairs of eyes watched him from the other side of the room and thanks to his training keith could feel their lingering stares on him, but didn't bother to look up. Out of the sudden the silence in their small motel room became unbearable and for the first time in his life, keith was the one to break it as he pushed back his chair, walking to one of the two queen sized beds in the room and placing the paper on the nightstand. He spared a glance at the female sitting on a chair, raising a brow.

"Where are you gonna sleep?" Keith finally asked, no emotion to his tone, just asking. Keith was good at this, whether the hiding emotion thing was for business matter or just keith being keith, keeping it to himself. Sometimes he became hard to read even for the brunnet watching him from the other bed, the same guy who spent most of his life with him.

The female stared at the asian curiously, voice monotone, though there was a hint of curiousity at the edge of her voice when she spoke up.

"I don't sleep." Keith stared for a split second, then slumped down on his bed as he pulled back the covers, letting the exhaustion seep back into his voice.

"Well, i need my few hours, so..."

"I'll watch over you." The ebony raised a brow at that, shaking his head as he pointed a finger at krolia.

"That's not gonna happen." With that, keith lied down, turning so his back was facing them as he pulled the blanket up to his chin.

When lance woke up for a moment he didn't even knew his own name, but he couldn't help the bad feeling settled in his stomach, a tiny voice whispering about something bad was to happen and the next moment lance was out of bed, standing while holding a gun in his hands, eyes narrowed as he checked his surroundings for a threat.

The only threat he found was himself holding a gun at the middle of their dark room, aiming at nothing while standing there in nothing but his old baggy pants.

Huh. 'Guess keith isn't the only paranoid one here.

With that thought Lance's eyes snapped to the male sleeping on the bed beside his, eyes narrowed in worry when he finally heard it.

A silent plead.

"Dad! Please! There must-" keith's words slurred at the end, body trembling as he mumbled under his breath incoherently, body jerking slightly as if he wanted to fend off invisible demons.

Alarms blared in his mind as he rushed to the asian's bed, grasping at keith's shoulder. Keith's eyes were clenched shut, beads of sweat rolling down his forehead.

He's having a nightmare. Lance frowned, shaking his partner's shoulder, desperate to wake the other male, free him from this torture.

A pair of violet snapped open and with a flash of silver, a knife was delicately pressed against lance's throat. Lance raised his hands in surrender, eyes wide at the sudden turn of the events. Yes, this has happened a little too much and lance was supposed to be used to that, but lance hadn't seen the guy react after a nightmare. And judging from the way keith had his jaw clenched with his eyes wide with fear, it was fairly a horrible one, it took a lot to shake someone like keith to the core like that.

"Whoa, man! It's me!" Lance snapped out of his stance, whisper shouting as he held up his hands, letting annoyance seep into his voice and cover up the concern rising up his gut.

Keith stared him down for a moment, breathing heavily as he let his hand drop to his side, his face sickly pale, shaking like a puppy left in the streets.

"I tried to tell him." Keith took a sharp inhale of breath, voice shaky with emotions as he hugged his arms, the blade left forgotten on his lap as he stared up at lance with an empty look on his face. Lance swollowed, waiting for the other to continue.

"I told him- begged him- there was always... always another-" keith choked out, tears building up at the corner of his eyes as his hands clenched into fists, fire flaming in his eyes. Licking, grasping, stealing away all the emotions build up for a hell of a long time, destroying everything. Lance frowned slightly, pulling his partner into his arms and holding tight. Keith's head buried itself in lance's chest, hands clutching at lance's back as if he would fade away if keith didn't hold on tight enough.

Since the day they met lance saw a fire inside of him, a flame to never die down. But the same flames came back, instead of helping keith to fight off his demons, left wounds on him to weaken him enough for the demons that awaited for an opening.

Keith was getting hysterical. tears streamed down his face freely as he grasped and pulled his hair, and lance couldn't do anything to help. Nothing seemed to calm the male, nothing.

The flame was too strong to be put out by some empty words.

Out of sudden there was a sound of wings fluttering and krolia was rushing to their side, eyes narrowed and glittered with concern as she pressed her index and middle finger to keith's forehead. Keith slumped into lance's arms immidiately, eyes closed and a peaceful look on his face. Lance'd think he was sleeping if it wasn't for the dried trail of tears on his cheeks. He turned to look at the angel with a frown.

"What the hell did you do to him?" Lance declared, voice low with a threatening hint to it. However it had no effect on the angel. Maybe lance should watch his tongue around a creature as strong as that, krolia could literally make him explode into a pile of red and pink guts with a snap of her fingers, but lance possessed the amazing ability to not giving a single fuck. Espacially when someone importent to him was laying in his arms unconcious, right after a horrible nightmare.

"Don't worry. He's sleeping. But he won't have any dreams." Krolia paused when she saw the inconcvinced glare from the hunter, a sigh escaping from her lips.

"Look, if i wanted to kill you two i would've done it the moment we met." Lance rolled his eyes, though the hardness in his eyes was gone the moment his gaze went back to the male in his arms. Lance laid keith on his bed, pulling the blanket up to his chin, eyes watching the asian with concern.

"Don't worry, lance. He will be alright tomorrow." Krolia said before disappearing into a flap of feathers, leaving the cuban alone with his lover.

Lance took a sharp inhale of breath, sliding into the matteress and wrapping his arms around keith's stomach, pulling him close. He pressed a soft kiss against keith's neck, eyes staring at the distance as he whispered into keith's ears.

"We'll be ok, keith."
