Chapter 4: Unknown Destination

Fionna's POV

Not long after passing that sign, we turned into a side road surrounded with tree's and stopped at the end of the road.

"Alright we have to walk from here" he unlocked the car and got out, he slid over the hood and opened the door for me.

"Thanks but I could've opened it myself" I got out and waited for him to lead the way.

"Just trying to be a gentlemen for my bunny" he grinned at me.

"I'm not your bunny and never will be" I rushed off only to end up hitting a tree for not paying attention to where I was going.

"We're going this way and you might want to stay near me so you don't hit another tree" he pointed to a small dirt walkway.

Oh glob. I sighed, I guess I don't have a choice he has the keys anyways. I went up to him and grabbed his hand.

"I'm only doing this so you don't leave me stranded so don't think any different of it" he had this huge smile on his face.

"Of course not, I wouldn't leave my bunny" he started running, I almost tripped a few times and he just laughed. We finally stopped at a clearing in the trees with a view of a river, it looked familiar.

"You like it? I found this place again when I was thinking" we were still holding hands so I yanked my hand out of his grip.

"It's nice but why did you take me here" his  smile disappeared.

"To have some fun. Let's have a race. First one up that tree gets" he trailed off, I guess he was thinking. "To drive home"

"Deal!" I ran and jumped grabbing a branch, pulling myself up and climbing up the tall tree. I looked to see he was still far from me but getting closer.

"You're never going to catch up to me!" I looked again to see he was even closer now.

"Sure I won't!" he started going even faster but I was getting tired so I started slowing down. This was a really tall tree. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see no one there then looked up and saw Marshall ahead of me laughing.

"Hey! That's unfair!" I tried going faster but I slipped and almost fell but caught my grip and continued. By the time I made it to the top he was already there waiting for me.

"Looks like I won" he smirked.

"Whatever, it's just because I got tired and almost slipped but good race anyways" I sighed knowing he's probably not going to bring me home yet.

"Let's get down there's still one more thing I want to show you before we go" we started heading down and it felt like it took even longer. When we finally got down he pulled me over to the river and took off his shirt and pants leaving him in his boxers then jumped in. I stood there stunned, he laughed.

"You just going to stand there or are you going to jump in"

"Uh um I-I'm not going to jump in. I'll just stay here" I sat down and started drawing in the ground with my finger.

"Whatcha drawing?" I looked up to see Marshall sitting in front of my drawing.

"I don't know, it looks like a dog" I tried to focus on what I drew but it still looked like a dog.

"More like a demon dog. Why are its left legs not connected to its body? And what's with that thing going around it and coming out the back? Is it supposed to be a tail?"

"Ok fine it's a demon dog!" I looked and saw that he was now staring at the ground away from us. I sighed "Sorry I'm just tired"

"It's alright I'll take you home. If you can beat me to the car" he took off running, I got up and ran to the car only to get lost in all the trees.

"Marshall!" I looked around to see if I could find him. Maybe I could call Cake and have her pick me so I'm not near him anymore. I checked my pocket only to remember I left it in the car. I need to find him so I can leave. "Marshall! Please come find me! Please I'm getting scared!"

"Fionna? Fionna, where are you?" I heard his voice he sounded scared too.

"Marshall! I'm over here!" I started running to where I thought his voice was. Tears started streaming down my face then I ran into him. I backed up to look at him.

"Hey are you ok? Where did you go, I thought you were following me? Why are you crying?" he took his thumb and wiped off my tears. I hugged him tight even though he was still a little wet, he hugged me back and we stayed like that for a few minutes. It felt safe in his arms.

"Come on I'll take you home, I think we had enough fun for now" I nodded and let go of him and we started walking to his car.

"Thanks for finding me" he nodded and we got in the car and started heading back to AAA City.

"I wouldn't leave you again" what did he mean by again, was he talking about the race to the car?

"What do you mean by again?" he just stared at the road and we continued the drive in silence until we got near the mall. "Turn that way" I pointed to the where my apartment was. I lived there my whole life with my Sister Cake and our parents but they passed away.

"I know where to go, I don't need directions" wow that sounded stalkerish. I watched as he made all the right turns and parked in the lot next to the building.

"Well thanks I guess" I got out and closed the door and he got out and followed me. "Um what are you doing?"

"Going to say hi to Cake" did I tell him her name? I don't think I did.

"Okay?" I went into the building with him and opened up the apartment door to see a worried Cake. She ran up to me cupping my face in her hands.

"Are you okay? Where were you? You were supposed to be home two hours ago!" I looked at the clock on the wall to see it was 8:00.

"Sorry I lost track of time" she sighed then looked behind me to see Marshall. He waved at her with a grin on his face. I ran to my room before she could question me about him.  I jumped on to my bed and shoved my face in my pillow. I started talking to myself.

"What did he mean by again? How did he know where I live? How did he know Cakes name? Ugh what is with him" I pulled the covers over my head and fell asleep.
